Went to the cinema yesterday and dropped the kids (12 and 10) in the cinema showing Toy Story 3.

I didn't really fancy that, and was looking for a little bit of "me time" so went to see the gorgeous Leo in Inception.

As soon as the film started, a phone started ringing. OK sometimes people forget to turn their phones off, (but the bloody idiot took the call) It was a teenager in a group of about 4. I said very loudly "can you show some consideration and turn the damn phone off please". He did but there was lots of tutting and laughing.

Then some fuckers in my row, not teenagers but a middle aged couple, started talking about their holiday.

I'm not really ashamed to say that I lost it a little bit and shouted at them to "please goto the pub next door if you want to chat, I didn't pay £8.50 to hear your banal conversation".

FFS is it just me or is anyone else completely disilusioned with the cinema?

Its not a new thing though...remembers a box of maltesers rolling down the aisles

Do you lot all go to small independent cinemas with old-fashioned sound systems? I only ask because the cinema I go to has that new-fangled surround sound and you can't hear anyone eating.

never knew moron, imbecile and idiot had specific IQ levels!

I go to both - last night was a Showcase cinema. Behaviour is much better at our small local one - not a trendy place to go as a bit shabby and they dont get the films first. Mostly families and older people. Will go there in future I think!

The thing I hate most is latecomers coming in 15 minutes into the film and taking ages noisily getting themselves settled when I'm tying to concentrate on the film. And noisy crisp packets.
I try to wait till a film is about to end its run and then go to see it in an almost empty cinema.

They turned our local small cinema into a nightclub

We tend to go (well pre DD) to the first showing on a Sunday, all the people who like to make noise are nursing hangovers in bed so it is always really empty.

£8.50! Bloody hell ShockI'd expect waiter service for that price. There was a woman fistling her sweet bag next to me, I wanted to throttle her.

Leo was looking gooood though.

we went to the cinema a couple of months back and there was some sort of 'incident' at the back with a group of teenagers and a couple of them got chucked out.

When we then left after the film, outside these 2 met up with the rest of their group and were saying (loudly) that they were going to wait for whoever 'grassed' and got them kicked out (a middle aged couple who complained re talking i think) and 'have them'. We went back in the cinema and told the manager who got security to move them, luckily before this poor couple had made it outside. Nice.

I've stopped going to the cinema for precisely this reason. I went to watch a comedian earlier in the year and some selfish so and so brought a baby (approx 6 months old)! It was about 9pm until 11! The baby gurgled and made noises most of the way through. The comedian even said he'd never known anyone bring an infant to one of his gigs and later asked if there was anyone from social services in the audience! It seems no-where can be guaranteed an enjoyable peaceful evening anymore.
