In October they plan to call in everyone
on invalidity benefit for medical examination
They have built a big concret ramp close t build a big concrete ramp close to me for them to get up and see a doctor.

There will be mistakes and the press will have a field day.

This week a man in Leeds was passed "fit for work" days after a majpr operation. IDS,s
Department say they will look into it.

Even the very ill are going to be called i in. (because it saves £30 a week to switch them to Job Seekers Allownce.

Get your facts right.

It's Incapacity Benefit which is being 0ooked at. Starting in October 2008, there has been a Welfare Reform programme going on.

In October 2008, Incapacity Benefit was replaced by Employment Support Allowance, for new claimants. Interesting to note that a very, very high proportion of appeals against negative decisions for this benefit are actually granted. The ethos of this benefit is that the system now focusses on what people CAN do rather than what they CAN'T do

It is well known that in the eighties and nineties huge numbes of people were put on incapacity benefit and left with no support (to reduce Unemployment figures).

Research shows that if you have been on IB for two years, you are far more likely to die than to go back to work.

Research also shows that after six weeks of inactivity, the average healthy person begins to develop mental health issues.

Starting in October 2010 (and going on until October 2014), existing IB claimants will be asked to attend interviews to ascertain whether there is more that can be done to support them think about what work they can do rather than what work they can't do.

"In October they plan to call in everyone

PMSL at the thought of during the month of October, ALL people claiming ANY kind of sickness/disability related benefit, being called in for examination - where would we get the trained medical staff?

I suppose I'm just highlighting the near hysteria which this topic in general seems to create - ranging in extremes from 'everyone on IB is taking the piss' to 'heaven forbid that we should ever medically examine anyone who is claiming benefit'

oooooooooooooh better get dd a day of school
imagine the traffic jams as all the people in thier wheelchairs and zimmer frames all have to go to the doctors on the same day.
