We both got a kitten each from the same litter a few months ago,

she'd wated a kitten for over 6 months.

Now her DP is saying he has 'had enough' of it and they are TTC so she wont be able to change the litter!! (shes not PG yet!!)

She txt me and told me she was gonna sell the cat.

I got upset and phoned her and told her that if she really, really felt she couldn't keep it then I would take it so she could still see her sometimes and so she knew it would go to a good home.

She said she was keeping it.

Just got a txt asking me if I want to 'buy' the cat!

AIBU to be pissed off because I am offering a home to the kitten, with its sister, I will have to pay for injections, food, vet bills, litter etc for the rest of its life and she wants money for the privilidge?!?

YANBU.

Take the cat, bung her a fiver and wait for her to pass out at how much work a baby is.

TotorosOcarina · 03/08/2010 17:44

I don't really want the cat, I already have 2 and 2 dogs (and 3 kids!) but I worry where it will go.

Well said trainsetter.
Tell her you will pay what she paid for the kitten IF she is prepared to feed it and pay all vet bills FOREVER. Cheeky mare
If it's all about the money, she will of course just sell it to someone else.

trainsetter · 03/08/2010 17:46

I would have it if I could.

Will one more kitten really make that much difference?

TotorosOcarina · 03/08/2010 17:48

I already worry about vets bills for the pets we have train,

Yes, that is a worry.

We have insurance for our cat but when she goes I agreed to a kitten each for the kids. Then I remembered about vets bills.

ChippingIn · 03/08/2010 18:05

YANBU

I don't know what the answer is though, because if you don't 'buy' it, you will worry about where it goes.

Would the people you got them off of buy it back of her and rehome it?

ChippingIn · 03/08/2010 18:05

Also meant to say, she's a cheeky cow - you are offering to do her a favour and she wants you to pay for it?! Your sister sounds like my brother!!

guybrushthreepwood · 03/08/2010 18:39

Just kidnap it!! "buy it" my arse.

obviously you can't really steal it but I would be very tempted.

Two kittens are sooooo lovely and if they grow up together they will groom, cuddle, play and do other cute things together.

If you have one, two are not really that much more expensive....

trainsetter · 03/08/2010 19:11

Catnap, surely? And why can't she steal it .

pjmama · 03/08/2010 19:27

Buy it?! Is it a pedigree or something?

TotorosOcarina · 03/08/2010 19:35

No it was only £20 when she bought it!!

Its not had its injecions so I'd have to pay £50 for them alone!

yadnbu

booyhoo · 03/08/2010 19:39

she is being unreasonable and greedy to ask you to buy it.

could you ask around your friends, only people you know would give it a good home and see if they would like it? even if you have to pay her for it to make sure it gets a good home?

diddl · 03/08/2010 19:54

And her partner is incapable of sorting out cat litter?

Won´t be much help with a baby then!

I changed cat litter when pregnant.
I know it´s not advisable but sometimes needs must!
