I think a lot of people don't have many interests, but at the end of the day - if you're not happy with your life the way it is - then find something.

Do you like exercise? Nature? Are you good with your hands? reading? Excitement? Cooking? Photography? Can you join a club to give somethings a go?

My only really hobbies are crafts - not very social - but keeps my mind from going nuts some days - I do patchwork, scrapbooking and make cards.

Hi RedVelvetRocks

I'm exactly the same, I am 29 and have worked full time since I was 18 have DD7 from previous relationship and am now happily married to DH30. Am 27 weeks PG and somebody asked me the other day what I liked doing and do you know what my answer was? I didn't answer because I don't know, I have neber had the time for hobbies/interests.

It's sad isn't it?

veyron · 03/08/2010 15:53

never

Oblomov · 03/08/2010 15:58

why do you need a hobby ? i don't have any. is it just becasue you think you OUGHT to have one ?

BootyMum · 03/08/2010 16:06

Isn't Mumsnet a hobby/passion/interest There you are, problem solved!!!

lynnexxxo · 03/08/2010 16:16

My hobbies are : watching (adult - no not that kind just not phineas and ferb) tv whilst eating junk food, sleeping and eating.

I fully plan to join an art club when my children leave home.

Oblomov · 03/08/2010 16:17

Booty, only one i've got time for. Agreed, problem solved.

Violet5 · 03/08/2010 16:20

My husband has lots of hobbies and passions and is always busying himself with one thing or another and encouraging me to get one.

Tbh though we have 5 kids and i'd just be happy to sit down with him over a meal and bottle of wine in the evenings.

I don't have much energy left by 7pm and due to one of my children having a severe disability i can't even remember having my own interests !
Sad i know lol, but everytime i start to think i should have a hobby or passion i start to realise that i don't really need one, and not everyone does i guess. I'd not find the time to stick at one, i come on here and i moan, i mean i blog on my own site a lot too

sanielle · 03/08/2010 16:32

Red Velvet could you sit in on a few different classes at your local adult learning centre? There all sorts of things you coudl try there. Maybe learn another language? Is there a country you like visiting.. try and learn the language there.

Or try your hand at painting, potting, book club, brick laying (build yourself a bbq!)there are millinos of things to do.. If you really want to.

RedVelvetRocks · 03/08/2010 21:57

Veyron - we are the same - work has been such a focus and children and nothing else. I can't answer that question either and I find it a little sad.

cupcakes - you have great hobbies. I did do a bit of patchwork a few years ago (living in different country) and really enjoyed it, not very good at it, but did love it. Maybe that is something I should pursue. Space is a bit of an issue but i do have a sewing machine and a ton of 'fabric squares' waiting to be used. Might look at some local courses - but childcare and conflict with work commitments are a bit of a nightmare. (but could be managed)

Lyn - I do have the same hobbies (if that is one!)
Love that Mumsnet is one - will that be ok
to put down on a CV??

Sanielle - LOL a bbq - fab idea just no space.

Violet - 5 children and one with a disability. You deserve a huge hug - well done. I'm surprised you make it to 7pm with energy - I would barely make it to the middle of the day...

I do patchwork by hand - so don't even use a sewing machine.... contact me if you want a reminder of how to do it by hand - or advice.

QuizteamBleakley · 05/08/2010 11:44

Pad your CV with hobbies with the aid of HobbyBullshit (works for me); examples include:

"Socialising" = getting drunk with friends
"Quiet nights in" = getting drunk, home alone, whilst watching any crappy tv
"Theatre" = I once went to see Avenue Q
"Philanthropy" = I once gave a tramp a pound the DAY before pay day
"Travel" = Booze cruise to Calais (see "hobby"2, above)
"Eclectic taste in music" = press RANDOM on my i-pod and there's every chance you'll get Joni Mitchell, followed by Tool.
"Sport" = I played netball 'til I was 14 and sometimes watch the first lap of the Grand Prix.
"Modern technology" = trawling AIBU for anything non-threatening / non-bitchy.

Bullshit baffles brains!

Floopy21 · 05/08/2010 13:11

I don't have any either. I have some in my head I think I'd like if ever got round to it/found the time.

DH's are: watching crappy 80s movies whilst eating sweeties, he's never really grown up!
