Two progs on C4 tonight so either my kids are going to get addicted to drugs or they are going to end up in A&E stabbed

God I feel depressed.

AIBU to think this is not a good representation of todays teenage society?

I know I am not BU - I work with teens and most of them are great.

YANBU. I was on the verge of starting the same thread.

I am planning on building a huge wall around my DC's and not letting them out until they are 30.

I know most kids are sensible. But TBH when I was younger we were all sensible lower middle class kids and drugs were rampant. Just as well we live in a town and not a huge city, I think we were still quite sheltered from some of the worst stuff.

expatinscotland · 02/08/2010 21:32

We used to live in the two neighbourhoods in Edinburgh featured at the start of the show about drugs.

Nothing much has changed, I see.

dustycups · 02/08/2010 21:34

i was thinking the same thing!
was made worse that before the programme on drugs there was 5 minutes of some guy saying that homosexuality is a sin! i was a little irate!!

then have sat and watched both these programmes and thought whats going on tonight!

cant wait to see whats going on on big bro tonight!!

Ladyanonymous · 02/08/2010 21:36

That man made me very very angry - homosexuality is an "inferior" model than hetrosexuality

And he is the leader of Christian Voice ladies and gents

Well I will teach my kids what the word respect actually means. These ignorant boys think it means 'fear' and that fear is a good thing.

Ladyanonymous · 02/08/2010 21:41

They "they earn their stripes" by "nearly killing someone" . Risky game methinks as how do you know you have "nearly killed someone" before you have "killed them".

Maybe a fine line?

its bloody disgusting

alexisfaith · 02/08/2010 21:52

My DH was on the programme Our War with Drugs. He isn't an addict, fortunately, and he isn't a smuggler; it's his area of 'expertise' for different reasons. He hadn't told me he would be on it. I was happy to see him on tv, but it is a shockingly sad context.

MorrisZapp · 02/08/2010 22:05

Hmmm.

Ok now I'm pissed off but for other reasons. Trailer for next week suggests that women are breezing on off the streets and getting free boob jobs from surgeons who would rather be treating cancer patients.

This is just bullshit.

If we're going to use the cancer argument then nobody should go to the doc for anything short of it.

And they aren't giving out free boob jobs. I know this very well as I have been researching the subject in depth due to my own boob-induced misery.

Ladyanonymous · 02/08/2010 22:29

I just feel sad that this is what we are doing to young people in the UK

Am thinking of moving to an Amish community

That young lad may have serious pain and problems walking for a long time.

Heracles · 02/08/2010 23:20

Well, if you're going to watch C4.......

Ladyanonymous · 02/08/2010 23:39

I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on the frivolous youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond words.
When I was a boy, we were taught to be discreet and respectful of elders, but the present youth are exceedingly wise and impatient of restraint.

@Lady: that's what DVD boxsets were invented for!
