What is wrong with wearing socks with sandles?
In what fashion bible does it say this is a no no?
I wear sandles all year round (I have very hot feet) and in the colder days I wear socks
(2 pairs in the winter when it is very cold)
and I am jolly well getting fed up with people making snide comments

Were you giving us a clue earlier Jason? Because the Burrito Brothers from Gigglebiz make my eyes hurt. The camera is always focused at mickey level and I have to look. Are you perhaps less Arfur Sleep and more Bananahammock?

insertexpletive · 02/08/2010 21:26

I'm afraid I could not condone a secret society, but would gladly fund therapy or an intervention of some sort

chaostrulyreigns · 02/08/2010 21:26

Jason I mean this in a really kindly way - but the gooseberries coupled with the sandals are kind of ............can you knit? and do you shop at boden? are you a social worker??

chaostrulyreigns · 02/08/2010 22:09

Meh. Gooseberries. Tadpoles.

Who can tell??????

nickschick · 02/08/2010 22:10

frogs?

CheapHawaiian · 02/08/2010 22:18

A friend of my step-father's only ever wears sandals. Whatever the weather. And only one particular make and model of sandal.

This particular sandal is only available in a few, very old-fashioned department stores/gentleman's outfitters.

When this man found some in our little market town, he bought six pairs. He was particularly pleased with the acquisition of a black pair for formal evenings.

About 2 months ago, my mother gleefully announced that he had, indeed, worn said sandals with black tie for an industry awards dinner.

We honestly thought that he was a one-off.

nickschick · 02/08/2010 22:30

cheaphawaiian ..........is he called Jasonthunderpants???

2kids2dogsandahorse · 02/08/2010 22:37

how can you use the words black and formal in the same sentance as sandals?

CheapHawaiian · 02/08/2010 22:38

It is suspicious, isn't it?

I find it hard to believe that there could be two such devoted sandal-wearers. But, unless Jason is lying about his details, and is in fact a sixty-year-old company director with grown-up children and grand-children, it seems to be true.

2kids2dogsandahorse · 02/08/2010 22:39

I'd personally prefer to think that Jason is lying

jazzchickens · 02/08/2010 22:57

Jason - stay strong. Take no notice of all the snidey comments. Don't be a fashion victim. I will pray for you.

2kids2dogsandahorse · 02/08/2010 23:03

Jason, are your thunderpants black yfronts?

Heracles · 02/08/2010 23:06

Socks can only be worn with sandals when accompanied by a woolen balaclava and snorkel.

MrsJT · 03/08/2010 07:57

Sadly I can confirm that Mr JT is not lying. He is upset because I've said that DD (4.5) is starting to notice that he is, er, different and he might need to find a more socially acceptable footwear than all year sandals.

I can also confirm that the sandals/sheet ice incident did in fact happen. I very nealry died laughing

FellatioNelson · 03/08/2010 08:14

Socks and sandals are fins just so long as you don't expect any sex from anyone. Ever.

Flighttattendant · 03/08/2010 08:24

I am only with DP because he is the first bloke EVER not to complain about my sandal wearage.

I love sandals.
Socks and sandals does risk wet feet but is so comfortable...

I have some clarks ones which are frankly horrible visually but lovely underfoot. then my aesthetically appealing DM ones in deep red leather which some still loathe but do look a bit more feminine.

I have this mental fight every time I wear either of them...'what are people thinking? Can I get away with these again? Do I look trendy to the German tourists at least?'

It's pure hell so YANBU.

CreepyFunbags · 03/08/2010 09:06

I like wearing socks with sandals too. But it is part of some deep seated psychological issue for me where I enjoy making my mother and mother in law go "What are you WEARING again?!"
And I go "Oh you know, these rules of fashion are beneath me. Why should SOCIETY get to decide what I put on my feet, the man, he has to control everything, you know?"
Then they roll their eyes and try to walk a few steps ahead of me when we are out.

God, I'm weird.
