Gggrrrr next door neighbours 'controlled' crying

okay so i probably AM being unreasonable BUT...
we live in a victorian terrace,
walls are quite thin, pepole both sides have kids, and you can hear shouting, tantruming, laughing and playing,
all of witch im sure they can hear from us as well and are to be expected if you live in a terraced house,it's actually quite lovely sometimes just to know that other parents/kids are doing the same stuff as you.

anyway...next doors baby's room backs on to our room, and he SCREAMS all the time,no one ever comes to comfort him at night and it keeps me up for hours,i feel so sorry for the poor mite,we've always gone to dd if she cry's and i cant stand the sound of a baby crying for it's parents that just wont come...it's even woken dd a few times, and its driving me CRAZY,im worried as we're about to have dc2 and i dont want him woken to sreaming every 5mins...
but i also understand that dc2 may well wake up next doors dc,only diffrence is,we will be there to comfort and quite down our dc,next door dont seem to bother.
it would be completely unreasonable for me to go round and say something...
wouldnt it??!

i know skye - i would never confront our neighbours back then but its not nice to listen to.they had 3 in the end all grown up now and absolutely fine - it was only the first baby that cried and cried.
i know its not easy my DD didn't sleep and spent most of her awake time crying but its different if you are trying to comfort them.
offering help is a brilliant idea as it makes them aware that you can hear - maybe that will make them act.

When I was a baby, my parents lived in a flat. Apparently I was crying non stop for something like 3 days, and a very quietly spoken Japanese woman knocked on the door and said, 'your baby has colic...' and motioned for my mom to hand me to her, which she did. The story goes that this lady said there was a Japanese technique, and she rubbed my back in circular motions and up came the biggest belch ever. Seemed that I slept better after this...

I remember a thread similar to this on another forum - a couple of pages in, a poster came along and suggested that the parents of the baby should give it medised or something to get it to sleep through

OP - we lived next door to very noisy neighbours in our last house (semi) and got a builder round to install extra plasterboard which was soundproofed on the adjoining walls, its called accoustic or something like that. Works a treat but you lose a couple of inches of your room.

In fact here link

purple thankyou but as we live in rented, this is not an option for us...we're not even allowed to put up pictures!
