Hi

I'm new to mumsnet, but I am interested in any hints that can save my knuckles..

I have 3 kids 9,6 & 4. all needing booster seats. car a ford focus, and we a do a one in shuffle & click procedure.. & if they all attempt to get in at once (when raining for instance) well there's squashing & fighting & leaning & scrapping & angry & WET, Dad's & Mums!... Does anyone have any idea's or is it just me.?

thank you

One of then goes in the front and you get in the back with the other two? Not ideal, and I prefer all mine in the back, but it is a solution of sorts.

We plan on keeping our Galaxy for the time being for this very readon. All 3 are still in high back boosters, ages 8, 6,4. We have tried them in other cars, our Scenic, mums Zafira, our old Cmax, and ended up with grazed knuckles and frayed tempers.

Good Idea, but as you say, not ideal. May consider on short hauls. Thanks

not trying to be awkward, but does a 9 year old need a booster seat? mine isn't unusually tall but he hit the height for going in normal seats ages ago

She's a little on the short side, as are we all. the seat belt just rests near her face. A good growth spert is all I need.

Flip flop, you and me both, DS is 8.5, and only 122 cm.
He needs to be 135cm to do without a booster, so I think it will be many moons!

I wonder how many people actually find this booster seat problem?

thanks to all who had input..

I've got to get to grips with these DS DD DC etc.. I kind of fill the gaps with the obviuos answer but I will find them all out soon promise.

tesco do a really narrow booster, its black and is only about £7, if you put that in the middle for your 9yo and had the other 2 in high backed boosters it might be easier?

my mum had a focus and i could fit either a maxi cosi cabrio or a britax eclipse in the middle, with a britax hi-liner at either side for the other 2,it is a squeeze, but its because of the way the belt buckles are actually in the seat rather than on a bit of belt,
my vectra has the buckles on a bit of belt so they kind of stay up between the seats and its easier to clip them in!

We had a seatbelt adjuster - see here
www.whatcar.com/car-news/tested-autosafe-seat-belt-adjuster/230874
It's been tested to the same safety standards as car seats and means you can safely lower the height of the seatbelt on the neck without using the booster cushion.

We put our two younger ones on booster cushions by the doors and they do their seatbelts up first whilst our eldest DD perches on the front edge of the seat, then when they are done she moves back and does her seatbelt up. It's still a pain but less so than when we used 3 booster seats.

Also we got some voyager car seats from tescos which are by far the narrowest ones we've come across which made it more comfortable for everyone.

we have the britax adventure

mothercare tried to sell me a graco one which they claimed was the slimmest, but the armrests caused problems.
the britax seat has no armrests so it fits in a lot better

flaime · 30/07/2010 11:57

Oh, sazm beat me to it with the tesco's seats!

sazm · 30/07/2010 12:17

yep the britax adventure is the newer version of the hi-liner i think (which we have),im so glad we chose these as they have fitted in every car we hae tried(even a 3 door corsa) with another carseat in between them!
