To sleep so much?

I have a DS, 2.4. He sleeps for 2 hours+ after lunch, and 12 hours at night. I seem to be in the habit of shutting my eyes for an hour too each afternoon now. It is heaven (I'm not trying to make enemies btw) but I feel guilty - DH is at work and I shouldn't need to should I? I am only 30! Should I fight it as it has become a habit or indulge while I can?? Do I need it?

How do you feel after you've had a kip?

If you're feeling OK after it, what does it matter? I bet your DH would have a nap in the afternoon if he could.

If you're relaxing when your DS is having his sleep it's so easy to just shut your eyes... just for five mins, which turns into an hour - speaking from experience

Not wanting to scare you, but get it while you can, your DSs naps wont last much longer,

YANBU. Trust me, if I could do that I 100% would!

DS (5.5 months old) only naps if he's in the buggy or car on the move, so sadly, no naps for me

Who cares if you need it

My DS is 2 (tomorrow!!), he sleeps to the same routine as your DS and I have always sneaked a little snooze in when I am at home with him. I love it

I am currently pg and off work with HG so am thanking my lucky stars that he does sleep for 2 hours in the day or I wouldn't have been able to cope at all either being sick or meds which totally knock me out.

Although I do admit to sharing some guilty feelings, especially when hoovering needs doing and when I wake up at 3.30pm after DS has been asleep since 12.30pm and I can hear him talking away to himself in his room not sure how long he has been awake...oops..

Bless him, he's quite happy though...

And can't wait till baby is born and we can all have a sleep at the same time.... lovely x

An occasional nap to catch up on lost sleep isn't a bad thing. However, if what you're saying is that you're suffering from fatigue and that the nap every afternoon is necessary because you physically can't keep your eyes open then that could be symptomatic of a medical condition. Very common cause of chronic fatigue in young women is iron deficiency, for example.
