Today saw a woman look all round to see if anyone saw her (me, but to far away to shout at her)! and proceed to leave her trolley beside her car and drive off. FFS leave trolleys back and stop leaving them at your backside you lazy bollocks!! They are littered everywhere at my local supermarkets. Rant over!!

Generally I would say YANBU. However, there are places I shop where the trolley parks seem to be quite a way from the disabled / p&c spaces and as I use either (I have a blue badge) and I don't want to have to get my stick out of the car to take a trolley back just for some other blue badge person to have to do the same in reverse, I'm afraid I do leave them.

But in standard spaces where it's likely to damage a car I would take it back or try to park close to a trolley park - I don't want my car damaged by a trolley and wouldn't want it to happen to someone else.

YANBU

Trolleys boys wouldnt be out of a job at our place, they take them from the bays and put them at the front of the store.

[or go up to the other end of the retail park because some lazy fucker cant be bothered to move their car from B&Q. we then get rollickings from B&Q if the trollies arent moved from 'their' space]

we've had several instances where Sainsburys has had a lot of hassle off customers because a loose trolley has been blown by the wind and damaged someones car. and then the trolley boys get shouted out for hours on end. the trolley boys get blamed for EVERYTHING that happens on the car park.

and im willing to bet every trolley boy in the country had either been bumped or had a near miss with some arrogant twat in a BMW..
i know all ours have!

Rockbird · 29/07/2010 11:18

Nope, trollies with child seats don't always have brakes on them. Asda do but our Tesco and Sainsburys don't.

Am in total agreement with Galena here I'm afraid. I usually have the two little ones with me when shopping so I find it very handy if someone has left a trolley near where I park.

Mine are 2 and 3 so I tend to use the double seat type of trolley if they are available which they are often not (due to old women using them to put their handbags in when they don't even have one child let alone more.....grrrr....another rant possibility here} so I love it if one of these is just lying about without having to traipse with the kids and bags etc to locate one.

I too often leave the trolley where I park for another parent to use.

However when shopping alone I always return the trolley to the trolley park.

Strangely ours do but then I live in quite a big city where the stores are large.

Even our M & S have trollies with brakes and that is in the city centre with no car park, ironically.

crunchbag · 29/07/2010 11:44

Ours do have brakes but nobody seems to use them, which is probably best as I have to move them out of my way just to get past

For those who leave the trolley behind for other people to use, do you also do this when there are already a couple dumped left there?

FranSanDisco · 29/07/2010 11:48

YABU, there is a man employed to collect the dumped ones and you are doing him out of a job . If I've spent x amount and have dcs in the car I'm not wanting to wander around tidying up the car park, I'm off home to stuff my face with the cakes I bought .

crunchbag · 29/07/2010 11:51

Hope you leave to wrappers behind for the cleaners to pick up

Chathappy · 29/07/2010 11:55

I always put them back - only time it's a bit of a pain is when I've parked a long way from the trolley bays (usually because some inconsiderate person without a child has used up the last p&c space ) and my 2 little ones are in the car on their own.

I do still put it back though and kind of do a weird mad dash across the car park whilst staring at my car to make sure they are okay! (not that much could happen to them??)

crunchbag · 29/07/2010 11:59

Well a tornado could suck up an abandoned trolley and drop it on top of your car

GetOrfMoiLand · 29/07/2010 12:05

Does nobody else give the trolley a huge great big shove 20 feet away from the trolley storage place, just for the childish pleasure of hearing a load of trolleys go CLANG.

Just me, then.

None of the supermarkets here need you to deposit a pound, anyway, thankfully.

Me!

and on very rare occasions when my husband comes with me (blue moon in the sky 7th month in the year of the aubergine rarity kind of thing) I make sure the kids aren't looking and then ride on the back of the trolley before crashing it into the bay, just because I can
