We can give cows milk to babies under 1, just not as their main drink.

It is not suitable to replace formula or breastmilk as it doesn't contain right balance of protein, and nutrients to have as main source of nutrition. However might be ok say for a 9 month old baby to have during the day if BM morning and night (but say mother at work in the day).

Its fine added to food, including cereal rice puddings or as yohurts, cheese, milk sauce.

What everyone else said - give it to them after 6 months, but keep them on formula/breast milk for main milk feeds until 1.

When I was a baby 35 years ago the guidance was formula until 6 months, then watered down cows milk instead. When I was given this for the first time I threw it all straight back up again and was kept on formula for another month.

firsttimemum errr I think Otchiyaniya was joking!
I think most people are aware that babies shouldn't be the recipient of caffeinated drinks

I've known parents who have given cows milk at 8 months so they could say they'd "never had formula"

I think before 6 months, dairy is not recommended (including yogurts, cheeses) because of the whole allergy thing - but that's all tied up in the wait till 6 months weaning thing.

After, it shouldnt' be a main drink, like everyone said.

I mix my daughter's weetabix with semi-skimmed milk - she's 9 months.

Before anyone says it, she's off the charts, so she doesn't "need" full fat milk. She's a great big fat rolly polly pudding
