to wonder why the hell someone would CHOOSE to go out for dinner at Frankie & Bennies

It has got to be the worst restaurant on earth.

And it's not even cheap.

Vile food, and every 20 mins the lights dim and 'happy birthday' gets sung out the loudspeakers.

It's up there with Harvester and Bella Pasta in my opinion.

I don't know why you single out Frankie & Bennys, pretty much every chain restaurant is vile:

Chiquito
Pizza Hut
Toby
Aberdeen Angus Steak Houses

etc.

Our local F&B is great for lunches, they do a £7 menu and DD gets doted on by the hot guy that works there. I don't mind cheap food, as long as the prices are cheap too.

PuppyMonkey · 26/07/2010 12:29

We found ourselves in one on a Sunday not long ago (it was the only restaurant at this retail park thingy we were at) and I made the mistake of ordering the Sunday dinner, as I was starving. £9.99 or something, you can get a lot cheaper nearby but we couldn't be arsed relocating. Anyway, I hate gravy and asked for mine without. So half an hour later when the others were all having their meals served, the waiter returned and told me they couldn't give me a meal without the gravy on, as that's how the meals came in the frozen prepackaged trays they use. Yucky. For £9.99.

I kicked up a fuss, saying how shocked I was at that for the price they were charging - and they gave me a free meal (can't remember what it was now) and free puddings for us all.

Actually, the one of the things I miss since moving from the SE to East Anglia is the Harvester. If anyon e nows of one in Suffolk or Norfolk, please let me know.

Yes agree SomeGuy

I remember once eating in Aberdeen Angus in Piccadilly or somewhere when i was 17. Got a fit of the giggles at the hideous naffness of it. God knows what foreign tourists make of the shitty place.

Agree also Pizza Hut (grim shit pizza) & Chiquito (I come over all Peter Kaye '£10 bloody english pounds for NACHOS).

Pizza Express is good, also like Cafe Rouge even though I know it is crap.

Ha lola, am I your sister?

Take them to a Hotel du Vin.
They recently did a "children eat lunch free" deal. Not sure if they still do.

Nando's is a-maz-ing though, for junk food.

Yes Altinkum, but what do they do to their roast potatoes to make them look radioactive?

And the caluiflower cheese at Toby may well be fresh but it look's like Oliver Twist's gruel.

And I get all shrieky at the bowls of horseradish, cranberry etc where someone has used the spoon for mint sauce in the apple sauce (and prob sneezed all over the condiments).

And the gravy. WTF is that? Napalm?

Oh we love F&B's.

I love the american diner theme, the staff are so friendly and helpful, we like the food, we love the birthday thing where everyone sings and it goes dark.

You have made me all excited just thinking about it, orf

SomeGuy · 26/07/2010 12:42

Nandos is not really like KFC at all....

GetOrfMoiLand · 26/07/2010 12:43

Oh poncey, bless you for loving the dimmed lights bit, that bit made me feel homicidal.

DP put his hand on my arm and said 'steady' at that point

Restrainedrabbit · 26/07/2010 12:43

I avoid it like the plague since a friends baby daughter contracted some hideous V&D bug, from an unclean highchair, that went on for 9 days and she ended up in hospital Might be just the Gloucester one though!

ponceydog · 26/07/2010 12:43

oh gawd, I would never order a steak at F&B's. No no

LetThereBeRock · 26/07/2010 12:43

I've tried Frankie and Benny's a few times and thought it was ok.Not great but not terrible either.

I've never heard Happy Birthday,in F&Bs,once let alone multiple times. I've obviously been lucky.

GetOrfMoiLand · 26/07/2010 12:44

Well no not really someguy, was just alluding to the fact it is cheap and sells chicken n chips.

I like nandos actually. I really want some of that houmous with the red sauce.
