To expect this company to repair my dishwasher?

I've had to wait over a week, and buy a £150 extended warranty to get a well known white goods company out to repair a dishwasher that was installed 5 years ago by the developer who built our house.

The engineer took one look at it and said that he couldn't repair it (minor repair apparently) because it had been 'incorrectly installed below floor level'.

By this he means that the kitchen floor tiles do not extend under the dishwasher, which is a health and safety matter it seems because the dishwasher won't just slide out of its space.

Belling are saying that it was incorrectly installed and that the developer should have adhered to the installation guide, but the installation guide doesn't say anything at all about this (had installation guide to hand when he arrived).

Phoned developer - not prepared to do anything because they believe that it was installed correctly and fit hundreds of dishwashers in such a way every day without complaint.

Meanwhile, find myself forced to wash dishes by hand like in the olden days

I think you should ask for the £150 warranty to be cancelled (what have you actually got for your money - a man who takes a week to come round then sucks his teeth shakes his head and says sorry it's 'elfnsafetyinnit?)

Ask around your mates for a sensible engineer (Yellow Pages?) explain the problem and see if he can help.

Most washing machines are on little legs so it should be possibly to slide a wheeled platform under if, jack it up, and pull the beast out.

good luck.

And, yes, grrrr on your part.
