Ok I know that I'm quite sensitive and emotional at the moment( 36 weeks with 2nd). But I have one so- called 'friend' who has made a comment on my size EVERY time I've seen her while pregnant. I'm proud to have a big bump, it's a big bb, but I'm not sll that big elsewhere- well not abnormally anyway. she actually called me a whale in front of a mutual friend and all our kids in the park the other day?!

AIBU to want to push her in the sand pit??? And can I get away with it in my current state???!

She wants to meet up with me next week but I've really gone off the idea... On top of which, she is religious and I'm not at all, but aren't they supposed to be nice to people?

YANBU. When I read the thread title I thought maybe it was a one off and meant as a joke, albeit an ill judged one, and not to fall out over it.

But she's made comments throughout your pregnancy? Not very nice. Is she ttc herself and maybe jealous? Doesn't excuse the comments though.

A male friend greeted me with 'Hello Fatty' when I was about 8 months. Didn't go down very well with me either.

I have a friend who keeps on greeting me with a "oh my god your sooo huge!" It does annoy me but I know that she honestly doesn't mean to upset me, more that my bump is just massive compared to the rest of me. However some people seem to get off on making those around them feel small and they're poison to be around. Go with your instincts!

I don't think you'd be unreasonable to give her a slap tbh.

Just pause, look slightly pained, and say "That's quite... rude, actually".

And look pained again.

are you sure she realises its rude? maybe she thinks its just a joke, or doesnt realise you are finding it offense. i would tell her you dont like it, then see if she still continues

this sort of thing reminds me of being at school . I'm always so amazed when someone makes such a crass comment that I'm a bit speechless that it would come out of an adult mouth. So particularly like the idea of sitting on her and weeing on her a bit. Fight like with like...

Firawala: no I don't think she realises at all. She's not cruel just a bit childish. But it has actually really put me off her. I thought she was intelligent before but I can't get the impression of an overgrown schoolgirl put of my head now.

I just think this sort of 'joke' isnt very funny and as she's been pregnant herself she should probably know that. It's a bit like calling someone with acne 'pizza face'. I know I'm sounding like I've had a sense of humour bypass, but I did laugh her comments off the first 10 times or so. Don't like my little one seeing adults behaving like that either... They get enough of it growing up
