Can't help thinking that 3 or 4 would be better for parents and kids, who get bored so easily.

PaintingTheFence.....Yes that's something else for DC to do. As well as mowing the lawns. Not a chance of them being bored!

Ha ha, 6 weeks?? My dd has been on holiday for 6 weeks already and goes back mid sept! I really enjoy having here about actually, as do her younger siblings. Enjoy it, they grow up so fast!

it does feel like mission impossible for the working parent though...
i used to love the sch holidays when i was at university; we had a blast, lots of picnics, and we'd go and stay with friends and family all over the place. the holiday activities are just so expensive, i'm already watching every blooming penny.
it's just a logistical headache. i have 6 weeks of different childcare for each day, using some leave as well (can't wait!).
i genuinely spend spring trying really hard not to think about summer holidays as it gives me a headache!
Mowiol: please try not to get so annoyed with others who are not so fortunate as yourself. as Riven demonstrated, parenting is riddled with the unexpected. i did not expect school holidays to be problematic, as i had not expected to be a single parent.

Mowiol · 24/07/2010 17:13

Maristella - I've already apologised to Riven because I realise that under circumstances like hers my post was thoughtless - I extend that apology to any others who have found themselves in unexpected situations.

First proper week of the school holidays for us and it is raining. Not bothered for myself as I'm going to be going to work soon but not good for the boys!

nah, rain will make it muddy so lots of fun!
