to think its a little OTT in asking your DC for a 'snog'

Just come from picking DS up from school (he has just finished Reception) and outside the gates another little boy in his class was telling his mum about his day and his mum said something along the lines of "Wow thats great, gisa snog". Now to me a snog is a little more than just a parent/child kiss. I dont for one minute think she was thinking the same as I was in the term snog, but I was a little , but then again this is the same mum who Ive constantly heard swearing to her child (not in a f you kind of way, but more of a I was waiting for the f-ing bus and the wanker of the bus driver etc).

Is it just me that finds it a little strange or have I got my perception completely wrong?

Thanks

OK PM. Sorry I took it personally. Thats the problem with text there is no tone of voice and I dont use this forum THAT much so didnt really get it. Plus I ALWAYS overanalyse and think about too much what people say and do. Its my worse trait and NEVER does me any favours.

Sorry

Oh, I use 'snog' with the baby.

I don't /think/ I'm common (went to a girls' school and everything!)

But 'sexy' used about a child is just unpleasant - it's hard to take that word any way but literally.

oh go on, have a snog..

Mowgli1970 · 23/07/2010 17:56

GetOrfMoiLand I would have judged the double x and i too! OP, YANBU, a snog is more than a kiss where I come from. I too hate parents calling their kids "sexy". UGH! Though it's better than "fucker" which I overheard one parent say to their ds! [shocked]

SirBoobAlot · 23/07/2010 18:29

I hate the word snog anyway, and the idea of saying it to a child is horrible.

Sexy is much much worse though. Someone said it to my DS once. Eugh.

I don't have a problem with the word 'snog'. My SIL jokingly says it to my 7 year old ds when she leaves after a visit. It's just a bit of fun and she's far from common!! I don't like 'sexy' for a child though, I really don't!!
