Im feeling terribly guilty. I was planning to spend mine on a trip to a spa or salon, where I could have a Baby Bump massage and mani/pedi and just relax for a bit. Ive found these things quite cheaply, £60 up to about £90, so Id have cash left over for a few baby clothes and such.

Talking with my friends, it seems that nearly all of them saved the money for baby. I had considered it, but the big purchases are already sorted.

Am I being incredibly selfish? I suddenly feel like I am?!

No you are not. I am pregnant with DC2. We have nearly everything still and we need to get a slightly bigger car as a rear facing seat won't even go behind my seat as I am tall and have to have my seat quite far back. My money is going towards that.

Having a good rest, relaxation sounds like a great idea to me!

ok. You loaned yourself the money to buy the big items and are paying yourself back out of the grant.

Spend it how you choose. Don't ask anyone or run it by anyone or seek anyone's approval (am talking rl!). Do what you want to do.

You are spending it on the baby. Stress in pregnancy is bad for the foetus. Having a relaxing day being pampered is good for both of you.

I hope this isn't an inflammatory comment, but it always seemed to me that the HiP grant was probably of more use to people who wouldn't normally/couldn't afford to eat plenty of fresh fruit and veg. For the rest of us, it's moe or less 'extra' money, and thus can be spent on whatever. Whether that's baby- or pregnancy-related is up to you. Massage and mani/pedi sounds fab to me though We bought a flat when I was 3 months pg, so mine just got sucked into the decorating/furniture (incl. nursery)/general spending void.

spend it however the hell you like IMO. 25 weeks is far too late on to start worrying about eating healthily! I can't actually remember what I spent mine on, but can guarantee it probably wasn't baby related as we still had everything from DD1!

Aren't there better ways to be spending everyones taxes though? A grant for a massage and mani-pedi does seem a little de trop when the entire country is in the red?

We bought a tumbledryer, and yes, as Sloanypony said i absolutely thought of it as the tax i have contributed into the system.We had twins so had to fork out extra anyway for stuff i.e. 2 cots, 2 carseats etc so it was very helpful for us.
You spend it on what you like, i cant see it being around for long!
