to think that if I get a playdate card I'd probably cancel

I've just seen the mumsnet advert for playdate cards here

'Tired of reminding other mums that your child can't swim or loves to play football?' (I'm not going to mention the allergies thing, because I can see the use in that).

Well if I invited a child round and I got a card telling me that he didn't eat peas, only likes to play lego and hungry hippos and will definately not like to do puzzles then I think and I think I might cancel, not because of the child but who wants to get involved with parents like that?

Hello Star,

I'm Vallhala and I have teenaged DDs so you won't have to entertain them. If I'm coming to your house I prefer tea (2 sugars) and donuts (ring ones, not jam, and certainly not custard). I'm better at playing with your dog than your toddler and I will bring wine on Friday afternoons.

Surely a strong candidate for a "What fresh hell is this?" moment.

The only information you really want is the kind no one would put on one of these cards ... 'Johnny will fight with your kids, break their toys, be intolerably rude and eat his own weight in cake....'

Flibberty - I like your style

I think buying them like this and putting shite like , 'Jack likes playing football' & 'Ella will only drink fresh orange juice' is, quite frankly, laughable...

However, I would quite like it if all the kids at school had one in their bag with the parents contact details, any food allergies/vegetarian/halal etc, any medical conditions/allergies etc - I think it would be very handy - especially when you pick them straight up from school and don't see the parents..... just sayin'

I am in the minority too because these would be really useful for ds who has ASD.

In fact they would be so useful I would pass them out to family members who really should know better and who still insist on labelling him "just naughty"

As in "Ds is not being naughty when making that repetitive car noise, so when you bark at him like a Seargeant Major you frighten him He will then shout louder and louder and become more boisterous as he cannot process your anger or adapt his behaviour in order to placate you, read up about it why don't you? and maybe just maybe I will let your nephew stay with you again for more than 2 minutes unsupervised!"

But otherwise I would laugh my arse off if I got one of these from a "playdate".
