to think that companies you have a credit agreement with shouldn't ring you up...........

stating "we just wanted to remind you"

blardy hell I nearly cried, totally skint (I have £7.50 in my wallet and 15p in my bank account ) until tomorrow. And last month I sat down to make sure that every single one of my bills were up todate, as when I'd got behind on some of them, and didn't have a proper record of what was due when and how much. (hence the reason I'm skint right now as I spent every last penny catching up).

When he said those words I thought I'd forgotten about that particular account and was thinking "sh*t".

No................he wanted to remind me............

that my manufacturers guarantee was about to run out on a carpet cleaner I bought 2yrs ago and did I want to take out their extended cover......no I frigging well don't now piss off.

ok I was much more polite I said no thank you and put the phone down.

But it still annoyed me that it took him so blardy long to tell my why he was ringing thought I'd totally stuffed up.

and besides those extended warranties are always an absolute rip off.

they certainly are!

they tried to sell me a warranty in Argos on a ten pound kids lamp!

Doodleydoo · 21/07/2010 13:51

Agree re extended warranties, by the time you have paid for them sometimes it is just the same as getting a brand new one!

I also hate those heart in mouth incidences like that - why can't they just send a bloody letter!

Chil1234 · 21/07/2010 14:53

YABU... You overreacted because you're skint. You're jumpy. If you had £10k in the bank and you got that phone-call you'd just be annoyed that someone had wasted your time. BTW.. the warranty/insurance companies are often different to the ones that sell the goods.

NarkyPuffin · 21/07/2010 15:09

I hope you gave him your ex's number so he won't miss out on their helpful offer.

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 21/07/2010 15:16

A bit better than companies you don't have a credit agreement with ringing you up and hassling you, we had a couple of months of this that seems to have stopped now, touch wood.

Most irritating was the automated call that kept coming in, "blah blah...if you are X, press 1; if not, please press 2" "Thank you. We will call again later."
No, don't fecking call again later, because I still won't be X! Grrr.

porcamiseria · 21/07/2010 15:37

NEVER NEVER give out your mobile no, I fucking hate it when I buy a hoover and they asl for my adress and tel no. why do they need it? I am buying a hoover not selling you my DNA. and its not for the guarantee as you usually have to send it off anyway!

fuckers!

AndreaisSlowlyLosingIt · 21/07/2010 15:59

YANBU But I do have to say having £7.50 til tomorrow is not skint by any meaning of the word. Try having £7.50 to last a week then getting these phone calls saying you actually do owe on the bill

nickelbabe · 21/07/2010 16:35

yanbu - thyey are very annoying.
worst thing is that you have to sit through their waffle until you discover that they're calling you for no reason at all.

AndreaIsSlowlyLosingIt - i'm sure your nickname is a deliberate ploy to make me believe that i am losing it (my name's Andrea).

toccatanfudge · 21/07/2010 17:34

Andrea - I've still got to buy nappies and milk - I know what skint is believe me. I've been skinter than this,

And actually even if I'd had 10k in the bank I'd still have had a heart in mouth moment as I thought (and indeed I'm correct in my thinking) that after several months of being all over the place that I was up to date with absolutely everything.

And no - I can assure that this was the same company - they said who they were.
