To want to report a colleague...

because they have been driving around for 3 months without MOT knowing that this invalidates their insurance... and they have 2 young children!

and they were advised at last MOT to get the brakes done within the next couple of months but haven't done until this MOT ("luckily they've lasted this long").

FYI it doesn't necessarily invalidate your Insurance - this is a common misconception.
YANBU to expect them to fix the brakes but why is it your business??? They might be really broke.

AuntieMaggie · 20/07/2010 16:26

probably because I was already in a foul mood when they came in and said this morning.

my colleague said their insurance wasn't valid so they'd been driving around knowing/thinking this for 3 months.

and them being broke is more important than the safety of their children or other people on the road?

they can afford other less important things

It doesn't invalidate the insurance. I know because I had an accident and realised my MOT was out-of-date but insurance paid up. I even told the police but didn't get any hassle.

The brakes are a different issue though. Still don't think it has much to do with you.

AuntieMaggie · 20/07/2010 16:27

No I know not much to do with me - I just hate this lack of consideration for other road users especially as I've lost a relative to someone who should've got their brakes fixed! It's the most important thing on the car!

Sounds like you are more angry with them than wanting to do it out of genuine concern for the children's safety.

AuntieMaggie · 20/07/2010 16:30

though this implies whether your insurnace is invalid depends on your T&Cs on your policy

Yes I'm angry that they would put their own and other childrens safety at risk!

How would you feel if they hit your child because they hadn't fixed their brakes?

Pretty pissed off obviously but why not offer to lend the money, ask if everything is okay, ask the police for guidance?

AuntieMaggie · 20/07/2010 16:41

I haven't got money to lend, I certainly have less than they have with the amount they splash out on other stuff.

It's pointless now because it's fixed, but I probably would've reported them before now had I known they were driving like that. Poor mites. It's like people who don't strap their kids in just gets my goat cos these innocent children don't ask for it.

FFS, none issue then.

AuntieMaggie · 20/07/2010 16:46
