Every time she visits she makes a nasty comment about how clean the house is, only to me- never DP! today she walked in and said 'ooh it's nearly acceptable today'

I have a bit of an opposite problem: my MIL doesn't seem to use Dettol as much as I would like, and food is left warm too often for my liking. Also, washing up is piled in the sink willy-nilly, rather than properly stacked so she can see what has to be done (or using the dishwasher).

However, both because I am a bit of a slattern myself and because I would consider myself a prize bitch for saying something, I don't mention it and would be very upset if she realised what I thought. It would be rude and cruel to say something when it isn't very bad, and when I am hardly a domestic goddess myself.

The people you are all describing seem to have standards of morals and manners inversely proportionate to their standards of hygiene : i.e. clean kitchens, disgusting manners. Shame on them!
