To feel sick with worry having just left my PFB for his first school trip?

He is nearly 4 and is going out all day to an environmental centre with his preschool and the reception kids.

His motor skills are terrible and he really struggles to do things like put a jumper on or open his lunch box (despite much encouragement and training!) and he hates going to the toilet anywhere other than home. The weather forecast is for rain and gale force winds.

I know IAB completely U and he will be fine

Now someone remind me what you do on your own all day with a 12 month old...

What you're feeling is normal. You'd only be unreasonable if you'd micro-chipped him before he left and were tracking him via GPS.

no, you are not being unreasonable! he is your PFB and it wouldn't be normal if you weren't apprehensive.

he will be fine and will have a great day!

can't help you with the last bit because my PFB is only 9 months old (and i too will be a blubbering wreck when she has her first school trip)

Cheepz · 15/07/2010 12:08

very normal

my PFB is changing classes at nursery and told me this morning he is 'worried about the new class' so dropping him off is angst ridden - even though he has been at nursery since 9 months and is 3 now!

YANBU

You WOULD BU if you did what Chil1234 said!

My dd had her first school trip a few weeks ago. She was 3, although has since had 4th birthday.

It's horrible sending them off, and nerve wracking all day, but he will be fine! There will be supervisors there to help to him with his lunch/jumper etc, so he won't be left cold because he can't put his jumper on.

Try and enjoy some time with your 12mth old, and be sure that your pfb is having a fab day!!

My dd is still nattering on about hers......

Coincidently Chil I was talking to a friend yesterday who said that if microchipping was available for children as well as pets she would do it! I would have been tempted this morning...

There are products on the market, believe it or not, which will electronically tag your child... I think it links up to mobile phone technology or you can track them via your mobile phone. It's when you buy one of those that you know you've left YABU-land and are heading for Basket Case Central.
