Depends on the individual child?

I agree.

LostArt · 13/07/2010 00:15

I wish someone would remind DS of that 'fact'. He's never, ever needed 12 hours sleep. Although I'm sure he'll more than make up when he's a teenager

MrsRhettButler · 13/07/2010 00:15

no no no... i need dd to have 12 hours sleep! its got nothing to do with the individual child!

TheLadyEvenstar · 13/07/2010 00:15

i just got to thinking about it tonight.
DS2 has slept through since he was 2 weeks old...and then it was 7-7 now he is 2 he sleeps from 9.30 and is up at 6.30...

MrsRhettButler · 13/07/2010 00:16

actually dd goes for 14 when she hasn't got to get up for nursery...

TheLadyEvenstar · 13/07/2010 00:17

wow 14hrs!!!

OP posts:
MrsRhettButler · 13/07/2010 00:17

oh, hi lady

MrsRhettButler · 13/07/2010 00:18

yes, 14

ben5 · 13/07/2010 00:19

why waste 12 hours sleeping when you can spend so much time running around! think the only time ds2 has slept more than 12 hours is after his operations!

TheLadyEvenstar · 13/07/2010 00:20

I listen to so many people telling me i need to get him in bed by 8 the latest and then got to thinking tonight

OP posts:
TheLadyEvenstar · 13/07/2010 00:21

hiya mrs

MrsRhettButler · 13/07/2010 00:23

well dd is never in bed before 8 unless she has nursery but she is one of those children that the later you keep her up the later she will sleep in the morn

MrsRhettButler · 13/07/2010 00:25

when she was 2 she would go at around 9:30 also.... maybe even later

i like my morning lie ins

ChippingIn · 13/07/2010 00:26

I agree that all children are different, but most do need a lot of sleep for all of that growing they do. Children, like adults, can train themselves to go to sleep at certain times and wake at certain times - it doesn't necessarily mean they are getting enough sleep...

Valpollicella · 13/07/2010 00:30

DS does 8.15pm till about 7.30, but that tends to be because he hears my alarm go off

If he goes to bed later, then he'll make up for it in the morning.

My gripe is is that my day of non 'working' is the day the bin men come so he gets woken by them at 7am...

BustleInYourHedgerow · 13/07/2010 00:34

DS will really not stay up later than 6.30. Although wake-up time can vary, 6-7 on a good day. 4.30 this morning. Grim.

TheLadyEvenstar · 13/07/2010 00:35

ok so what is your secrets?
DS2 used to sleep 7-7

OP posts:
booyhoo · 13/07/2010 00:42

i miss those days when ds slept for 12 hours. they were great. unless he was sick i knew i had a guaranteed 12 hours of un interruptedness. now with ds2 i am lucky to get 3 hours. ah well, 'twas good while it lasted.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 13/07/2010 00:46

DS sleeps about 10/11 hours at night, normally 9-7 although this morning he didn't wake up until 8.15!

He still has a long nap in the afternoon though, about 2 hours, so he is getting plenty of sleep just not all at night.

He is almost 2.

MrsRhettButler · 13/07/2010 00:50

wow, i don't know that i have a secret..

i got lucky! she used to sleep 12/14 hours at night and then have two, two hour naps in the day!

i'm too scared to have another dc as everyone assures me that i will have the exact opposite next time!

TheLadyEvenstar · 13/07/2010 00:52

yes you will lol

OP posts:
MrsRhettButler · 13/07/2010 00:54

i think people are looking forward to it! lmao

i might just stick to the one!

PortiaNovmerriment · 13/07/2010 01:01

They might not need 12 hours of sleep. But I need them they need to be in their bedrooms for that long.
