to be cross with dw for not taking my advice on buying a new toaster

Dw purchased a new toaster on sunday.
This morning I tried it out and to my dismay I noticed 1" of bread sticking out the top.
Before she left I told her to take a slice of bread to fit into the toasters on display in the shop to see if it was the right size, but she refused.
Now I am going to look a bit of a nob in the returns queue with a toaster in one hand and a slice of bread in the other waiting to explain to the assistant that I want a bigger toaster that fits this slice

It is little things like this that get my goat
Why do some people never listen to good advice?

All she had to do was try the bread in the toasters to see if it was a good fit.Afterall she spends bloody hours trying shoes on
grump

Indeed.

no no barkis - there are phallic overtones - no one's being undertonic at all.

Do Magnum supply toasters with their fitted kitchens?

My DW is able to judge toaster slot sizes entirely by eye alone (it's quite a talent) and chose us a Dualit toaster which quite roomy enough for Warburtons (not that we touch that muck, we prefer Waitrose Rustic Stone Ground).

But every woman has a weak spot: how is your DW on the relative height of tables and chairs?

Jason, I love you so much have decided I am your new stalker (just in case you had an old one)

BTW - are you sure the bread stuck out exactly one inch? Have you measured it

(If you turn out to be my step father in disguise - which you very well may be, from your fabulous, fabulous writing style - then stalker offer rescinded...)

tortoiseonthehalfshell · 13/07/2010 05:33

Thumbwitch, I was almost undertonic on Friday night. Gin was involved as well.

thumbwitch · 13/07/2010 06:13

at both of you!

Jasonthunderpants · 13/07/2010 06:45

@stubornhubby
Warburtons isnt our bread of choice but it is preffered for sausage or chip sandwiches and the odd slice of jam (homemade) on toast

@14hourstillbedtime
I could do with a new stalker,have you seen my post about my ex stalker leaving me?

Can you really see JasonThunderpants spending 100 odd pounds on a toaster??? He's from Yorkshire remember - you get what you pay for with toasters

stubbornhubby · 13/07/2010 09:19

@jasonthunderpants
actually waitrose rustic stone ground isn't our bread of choice (that would be rosemary focaccia) but the waitrose is preferred for toast, with red chilli jam from the farmers market.

For the a chip sandwich I like the bread toasted on one side. The Dualit can even do that

Jasonthunderpants · 13/07/2010 11:44

I like chilli jam from The chilli jam man

it blows ones head off
