To start thinking about autumn

Weather recently has been awful.
We've been our 'summer' holiday and am looking forward to august/September.

Not buying any more summer clothes and am looking for jeans and long trousers for dd as she has been living on cropped/ too short ones recently.

Dd also starts school on august which I both dread (as she's my first) and look forward to ad I want to see her enjoy it... And see how smart she is in her uniform.

My birthday and ds's birthday is in September, then Halloween, guy Fawkes, Christmas etc...
Looking forward to crisp autumn weather, smelling bonfires etc

Aibu in waving summer goodbye?

well maybe a bit. However I would recommend getting this months Vogue, which is all about the autumn fashions. I found myself wishing away the summer while I read it, but have now decided that it's something to look forward to.

GypsyMoth · 12/07/2010 13:57

flyingdoll · 12/07/2010 13:59

Me too! scaredofthedark you are not alone! Baby due October, this heat is horrid and i love Autumn anyway. Saturday nights in with a bottle of wine and X factor on telly, nice walks in jeans and new winter boots, cosy jumpers, warming homemade soup, my baby's first christmas.......yadnbu.

addictedishavingagirl · 12/07/2010 14:16

ohhh me too!

Whitecherry i havent bought anything for christmas but i've started looking and making lists. I need to be really organised this year, i really dont fancy christmas shopping in dec with a 4 week old baby!

my baby is due in november and i'm looking forward to the autumn and winter clothes having a whole new post preg wardrobe (that dh has prommiced me as my body shape has changed so much!), buying clothes for the baby rather than looking at all the pretty summer dresses, babys first christmas etc etc.

I cant wait

addictedishavingagirl · 12/07/2010 14:20

lol flying doll i didnt see your post!

MrsC2010 · 12/07/2010 14:42

I LOVE summer, but I also love the cosiness of winter. Our first child is due in a few weeks and I casn't wait to get all cosy this winter, light the log burner, go on chilly walks with the dogs, put my woolly tights and dresses on (if anything still fits...) etc.

YANBU!

Ooooh, Christmas, I love it so much. I have already started thinking about presents and budgeting etc.

GypsyMoth · 12/07/2010 14:47

lol...this fantasy you're all building....is it ever as good once its here??

i love the changing colours...the leaves etc..
conkers!!

ilovemyteddy · 12/07/2010 14:50

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has started thinking about Christmas shopping already There are loads of bargains about in the sales and I already have a stash put away. I work in a shop and the thought of Christmas shopping any time after October is completely to me!

However, if everyone did what I do then I'd be out of a job

MorrisZapp · 12/07/2010 15:19

Autumn is my fave month but YABU really.

Reminds me of being on holiday in California, sweating my bits off, and buying a beach towel in the shop. The lady said 'you going to the beach? I thought school had started again?'

It was like, 30 degree heat out there.

Same holiday, I spent many hours sunbathing by the pool, flicking through magazines featuring tweed and chunky knits, in celebration of the 'new season'.

It's weird how we live one season ahead, and not in the actual current weather.

PiscesLondon · 12/07/2010 17:18

no, YADNBU.

autumn is amazing, i love the weather, the crisp cold air, the smell of bonfires, the falling leaves etc...

september to december are by far my fave months.

i am starting my christmas shopping this week, i want to be organised now that i have a little one and be able to enjoy the build up to christmas without rushing about.

DD was only a tiny baby last christmas, so i am classing this christmas as her first. do 14/15 month old babies 'get' father christmas??

addictedishavingagirl · 12/07/2010 18:08

not really but they will like the red outfit and the white beard if you take them to see f/c

PiscesLondon · 12/07/2010 21:43

oh yes, i plan on taking her to every grotto i can!

i have visions of her bursting into the living room on christmas morning, ridiculously excited at all the presents wrapped up. i'm probably being a bit premature though!

dexter73 · 12/07/2010 21:52

Noooo! Summer is so short and you are already wishing it was over before the holidays have even started!
It will be cold soon enough, and after last winter I am really enjoying the sun.

Scaredofthedark · 14/07/2010 10:13

Dc have been on summer holiday now since end of June ( in Scotland), so their 'summer' so far has been rained off- I don't think I am being unreasonable in this aspect...

And more rain today....
sigh

indochichi · 15/07/2010 14:44

I love Autumn too, but YABU to not appreciate the present Also, apart from the last few days, the weather has been great in London recently.

GeekOfTheWeek · 15/07/2010 14:51

I love autumn and winter but I haven't been on my summer holiday so not ready to embrace them just yet!
