What a waste of time and money.
He killed himself, end of.

debrief of those involved and review are essential after a traumatic event
for closure
for review
for future discussion

Lionstar · 10/07/2010 23:20

Terrible circumstances, BUT the police do need to come under scrutiny for their actions. Can you imagine a world where they don't??

Also, the cost of an inquiry is going to be far less than the cost of keeping such an offender locked up for life - therefore a small price to pay to make sure his life was measured in reasonable terms?

Jaquelinehyde · 10/07/2010 23:21

The bloody Sunday Mirror tomorrow is carrying the frontpage headline DEATH BY TAZER. I really am disgusted at our media.

GypsyMoth · 10/07/2010 23:21

pigletmania.....he killed 2...you sure? who?

McSteamy · 10/07/2010 23:23

But was he tasered at the end? If he had his finger on the trigger the effect of being tasered could have caused him to pull the trigger. Genuine question, not trying to stir it just not sure what happened at the end.

Jaquelinehyde · 10/07/2010 23:23

He has only killed 1 so far and that is his ex girlfriends partner.

His ex girlfriend is still critical and the reports on her are not good.

Jaquelinehyde · 10/07/2010 23:25

He was tazered at some point during the whole process McSteamy, but we don't have any other information.

For a national newspaper to run with that headline is sickening.

GypsyMoth · 11/07/2010 00:01

pics of him on sky holding the gun to his head....

juneybean · 11/07/2010 00:06

Perhaps he has shot himself which then shocked the guy holding the taser who fired at him ... ?

ThatVikRinA22 · 11/07/2010 00:10

hang on...the reports says a tazer was deployed - doesnt say he got tazered. 2 competley different things. had he got the tazer he would have been rendered completely unable to move had the darts been 3ft apart - if not then he would have had 50,000 volts through him and that would cause pain, he would not have had presence of mind to fire the gun. suggests he did not get tazered.

the police tried to talk him down for 6 hours. when i join i am going to hide all police related threads. i am currently a special, soon to be a regular and its a very very thin line the police tread. i believe sincerely they did all they could to bring this to a peaceful end. i believe the gunman was intent on ending it this way.

RunawayWife · 11/07/2010 00:21

The answers for his children are simple..
Daddy had a bad temper, he went mad, he shot and killed an innocent man, he shot an innocent police man in the face, when he was about to be caught and locked up he shot and killed himself as cowards do.

GypsyMoth · 11/07/2010 00:25

agree with that vicar, I'm ex police too, it's never as cut and dried as it seems is it? ( ex special)

shabbapinkfrog · 11/07/2010 00:30

Total crackpot!!

I think there should be an investigation as to why Gazza (Paul Gasgoine) turned up to try and help him?????? Turned up with a can of lager, a fishing rod and in a dressing gown???????????? What??? This world is full of crackpots!!!

shabbapinkfrog · 11/07/2010 00:31

Wouldn't be a policeman (or woman) for all the tea in China - couldn't deal with what they have to deal with!!

toccatanfudge · 11/07/2010 00:32
  • yes of course that's exactly what you'd tell young children isn't it.
GypsyMoth · 11/07/2010 00:36

Shabba, that's why I left. I shudder when I see black bin liners now, after a very horrible policing discovery.

There are some very sick people out there. Sicker than Raoul.

News reported his mother had abandoned him young, before he shot himself he shouted 'no one cares about me' and 'i don't have a dad' all very telling if true

Jaquelinehyde · 11/07/2010 00:40

Vicar - I don't think you need to hide any police threads. The majority of MN are police friendly or at least that is what I have found. As with most situations you get some people who hate the police and make their feelings known, but you will be use to these types of people, after all you deal with them every day.

I can not understand why so many people have an out pooring of sympathy for this evil man. I've just done a quick search on facebook and I'm sickened by what I have read. Moat is being hero worshipped and the police and his ex girlfriend blamed

Lets get this straight he was a man that went to prison for beating his 9 year old daughter (I believe, please correct if wrong) his girlfriend who was only 15 when they met, who he also beat ended their relationship when he was in prison. Probably because she felt safe enough to do it at that point. On his release Moat shot and killed his ex's new partner, shot and seriously wounded his ex and shot and seriously wounded a police officer he happened upon whilst driving.

He then went on the run, after a few days he left a dictaphone message saying he would kill one member of the public for every incorrect piece of information he heard in the media, he then shot himself whilst surrounded by police officers who had done everything they possibly could to end this situation with no further casualties.

HOW THE HELL CAN ANYONE MAKE HIM OUT TO BE THE VICTIM HERE?

I'm angry that the media are allowing these dickheads air time

Jaquelinehyde · 11/07/2010 00:47

'News reported his mother had abandoned him young, before he shot himself he shouted 'no one cares about me' and 'i don't have a dad' all very telling if true'

Yes his mother abandoned him and he was bought up by his Grandma and his Uncle. His Uncle said he had a very secure upbringing and they were as close as father and son.

He has manipulated the situation, planned it out so he could get the hero worship and sympathy or people. I wouldn't be suprised if he had planned what he was going to shout before he pulled the trigger, if indeed he did shout that.

Jaquelinehyde · 11/07/2010 00:47

Wow I'm ranting on this now, sorry. It just makes me so angry.

shabbapinkfrog · 11/07/2010 00:49

Oh my dear God - I didn't mean to sound flippant with my message about Gazza - I cant even imagine what it must be like to be a member of any of the Emergency Services....really, really cant. Sometimes it feels the world is turning too fast and I would like it to stop so I could just get off.

In 1992 a lad driving a flat back lorry reversed over my DS3 and crushed him to death. The police were truly amazing and sent me sympathy cards and called round to check how we all were. A couple of years later I came face to face with the man who killed my son. Yes I realise it was an horrific accident.

This man was in a local pub and I kept looking at him because I thought I knew him but couldnt figure out where I knew him from. I went to the loo and as I got level with him I realised who it was. HE HAS NEVER, EVER APOLOGISED.

When I went to pass him he laughed in my face???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I take my hat off to anybody who works for the emergency services.

Jaquelinehyde · 11/07/2010 00:56

Shabba - That has reduced me to tears. I'm so sorry

That man sorry coward should be ashamed of himself, disgusting excuse for a human being.

shabbapinkfrog · 11/07/2010 00:58

Thank you for your kind words. It is something that my family will never recover from.

I cannot imagine how anybody could do the job of a policeman....I have full admiration for the emergency services.

Jaquelinehyde · 11/07/2010 01:04

My eldest brother is pretty high up in the police, has been in for about 16 years now I don't know how he does it.

However, what you have been through makes the emergency services seem like the easy choice.

Jaquelinehyde · 11/07/2010 01:05

Actually you are completely right about Gazza no need to apologise there!

MrsCrafty · 11/07/2010 02:42

Who cares. He is dead and unable to kill anyone else. The end.
