White Board Markers

Hi folks,
I haven't posted on here for quite a while but I have a question about chemical
sensitivity. My daughter is 5.5yrs and has a strong reaction to any airborne
chemicals. She has Aspergers syndrome, ADHD and multiple food intolerances also.

She is in a mainstream school, who are amazingly supportive and understanding of
her very specialised diet, as well as eliminating any necessary chemicals.

A concern has been raised today because of her intolerance to drywipe markers /
white board pens. She is going into a year group next year (and the consecutive
years) where they use the whiteboard heavily.
I am just appealling to you as a wealth of useful knowledge in this department
to see if there is something that can be used as an alternative for the main
white board (chinagraph pencils are already being used for individual boards).

Thanks in advance
Snoz

i suspect that allergyuk would be able to help you here, they do focus on chemical senstivity as well as food /environmental allergies.

just out of interest what are her symptoms?

funny , but the markers were considered a better choice than chalk for asthmatics.......but am sure that asthmatics do respond to some of these artifcial fragrances and chemicals.

Thanks bridewolf that might be worth a try. She gets burnt and cracked lips, red, inflammed and itchy eyes, urinary incontinence and generally goes off the wall (like being on drugs) then when the exposure is calming, she becomes grumpy, verbally aggressive (like withdrawals) its not very pleasant. Am lucky the school are on side and are researching an alternative for her.

The thread that Snozcumber posted in SN has details of an alternative I tracked down - might be of use to others too?
