Seeing GP tomorrow - what should I ask?!

Hi everyone, haven't posted about allergies before!
DD is 6 months, and we are just starting weaning. She has excema, and there is a history of allergies in DH's family. DH is anaphylactic with tree nuts, and also has a mild reaction to shellfish. MIL had coeliac disease, and FIL is allergic to fish.
The health visitor suggested that I see the GP re piriton syrup to have at home in case of reaction (the pharmacist wouldn't sell it to me as she was under 1).
We have tried DD on carrot, apple, butternut squash and banana. The banana caused some rather impressive projectile vomiting about 3/4 hours later. She will suck on the other foods in a BLW type way, but won't open her mouth if I come at her with a spoon (or grabs the spoon, turns it around and sucks the other end, after inspecting it to check it has no foos on it!).
Should I be asking for testing? Have used the search facility on here to try to answer these questions, but I'm still not sure, and to be honest, the answers scare me a little!
To be honest I'm v stressed about the whole weaning thing, as it feels like I'm playing russian roulette with DD every time I offer her some food. Am afraid I will get in to see the GP tomorrow and burst into tears, which won't be productive, so I'm trying to prepare what I'm going to say beforehand!
Sorry for rambling, would be grateful for advice!

yes, ask for liquid antihistamine on prescription - shouldn't think you will have a problem getting that. And ask for a description of the symptoms that mean you should give it. That might take some of the stress out of introducing foods - though it's only natural to be nervous.

Somebody might correct me, but unless you are really lucky I don't think you're likely to get testing if your DD has not actually had a reaction - the tests are v. expensive and resources rather stretched.

Apart from that, I don't know really... when you do think of a question, writing it down is a great idea as if you are anything like me you will forget it if you don't.

hope it all goes well.

Unfortunstely, your GP won't be able to do a great deal, other than prescribe piriton but will be able to refer you to an allergy specialist. Insist on this if you are worried about introducing potential allergens, though be aware there will be a waiting list. Aside from a possible reaction to banana (vomiting only, or other symptoms?) and eczema, have you any other reason to suggest your DD might be allergic? Any problems whilst breast-feeding for example?

Thanks for your help - we're off to the GP now!

So we went to the GP who was happy to give us piriton syrup, to be used in an emergency only! He was reluctant about testing, saying that it wasn't necessary to put her through that unless we had evidence of allergies, which is a fair point I suppose. I had been thinking of it being stressful for me rather than her, although surely an allergic reaction would be stressful too, although she may never have one......could go round in circles with this one!
So it's back to trying low risk foods one at a time! Thanks everyone.

i agree with nottirednow, but would avoid bannana for a while.

it may be a case of not being able to digest it, but i would avoid for time being.

i am sure introducing foods one at a time, is the sensible way forward, weaning is not a race!

i am sure you will soon see your baby happily tucking in to foods and you will feel the stress ease.....

apart from the ezcema, baby otherwise healthy?
good weight gain, and sleep pattern?
