Are trainer Epipens worth buying?

DS has an epipen for kiwi / pine nut allergy. Is it worth getting a trainer Epipen so we can all practice using it? I used an old out of date one on an orange a few months ago so I have a rough idea how they work but my family have not tried it and they look after DS some of the time.

Do they have a 'fake' needle that pings out so you know how hard you have to jab it into the leg? Can't really see how they work as such.

TIA.

Don't buy one, just go on the Epipen website (where you can also log your pen's BBD so they text you to remind you to get a new one) and they'll send you one for free.

I got one in order to teach my older dcs how to give it to me if they ever need to.

It clicks when you stab it hard enough against your leg. I think the firing mechanism is there but there's obviously no needle or drug attached to it.

I've just registered the expiry date and it didn't say anything about a free trainer pen, maybe they're stopped the freebies. But there is an option to buy a trainer pen for £10. Might just whip the credit card out.

That's odd. I definitely didn't pay for mine and it was only a few months ago. They must have stopped the freebies.

I would get one though, they are useful for teaching other people and for him to practice on himself.

They're only £6.95 here

We got one - me and dh practice every so often and anyone else who is looking after ds gets a session on it when we see them (grand-parents, babysitters etc).

Definitely worth it, even if you have to pay for one.
