Does this sound like a fruit intolerance?

I'm really sorry to post in allergies with something so minor and non threatening, I realise many of you will have a child with a serious allergy.

But this is concerning me as it seems to be a pattern and I would be grateful for any advice, being a bit dim on this subject.

Ds is 7, and since he was about 3 he has had random episodes of vomiting which seem to happen when he has eaten particular things.

The first thing I noticed was red pepper. Then it was satsumas/clementines.
Then a month or two ago, strawberries.

Then last night, he had some watermelon and that came up too.

It seems to happen a few hours after eating the thing, just a one off, which always contains whatever it was, (sorry!) and then he is fine.

I realise it could either be a bug or that something was a bit off, I know the melon was on its sell by date but I ate some and was fine.

I'd be interested to know if this sounds worth considering as a possibility - it's getting almost predictable, that if I feed him some kind of 'soft' fruit or veg (usually red) he will be fairly likely to throw it back up!

Thankyou for your help, and again sorry if this sounds a load of nonsense.

If it happens so often that you have made the connection, then probably worth going to gp for a chat about it.

just pop to your GP and tell him/her exactly what you told us. they will then most likely send your LO to have an allergy test done (or demand one) which is done at a clinic at a hospital (we get "choose and book" here in norwich, and i got 4 options of where and when to take DS to the clinic...) we picked out local hosp as they ahve a specialised child allergy clinic.its a fairly easy thing to have done, and then you will know for sure

Thankyou very much for all the advice. I think we will just wing it. He doesn't seem to have any other symptoms when it happens so maybe it is just bad luck, though me and his brother don't seem to be affected.

I appreciate your help though

My friends son was allergic to fruit, and I mean seriously allergic. I met him when he was nine and thought he was just being fussy, but apparently not!

He can't even eat a chocolate with a fruit centre or a fruit flavoured candy!!

Not sure exactly what it is that sets him off, but even the smell of it makes him feel nauseous (think fruity bubble baths etc...) but actually eating it makes him vomit, rash and hard to breathe.

Apparently it wasn't so bad when he was younger, but it built up. I'd get your LO tested sooner rather than later. Anything can be an allergy!
