What is the best anti-histamine to relieve nightime itchy skin in 4 year old?

She has a pollen allergy. On Singulair for asthma which seems to be keeping the respiratory symptoms under control but her skin has broken out.

The doctor prescribed Phenergan for her but I am wondering if it is making her tired and dopey the next day.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

My son got Phenergan when his eczema was really bad, it was to help him sleep really.
I just use Piriton liquid or the Lloyds equivalent now when he's very itchy.

you can get a daily antihistamine, to keep skin under control, which in turn will help with sleep.

take it that you have allergy bedding and the like?

my son has a high dustmite allergy, and really had dramatic improvement in skin when we got the bedding, woodern flooring in room etc etc.

Phenergan is also used as a sedative so it's no wonder it's making her drowsy but then all antihistamines can have that affect, can't they? Maybe phenergan is particularly effective on skin rashes, I don't know?

I buy a generic antihistamine syrup. Anything with chlorpheniramine in it which is the active ingredient in piriton.
