What dairy-free formulas on NHS?

I would like to know what formulas are available on prescription for dairy-soya intolerant babies on the NHS? (Other than Neocate)

It would also be interesting to hear other people's experiences with those? Our baby is currently still breastfed (on a really strict exclusion diet for me). I know of Neocate but what other "milks" are available?

Anyone's food intolerant baby reacted to Nc but tolerated another special formula??

Thank you!!

There is also Nutramigen but I think it has tiny mounts of cows milk protein it it so if your LO is severe Neocate may be your best bet tbh.

My DD (now 2.4) has been on neocate since she was 8mths old and has had no problems at all. She evens likes it as it does taste/smell pretty foul.

A month ago we switched her to Neocate Active (for older children) which she reacted to straight away so we are back on neocate LCP.

It's been a long time, but as far as I remember, Neocate is your best bet for a dairy/soya intolerant baby. However, is incredibly expensive so many GPs are reluctant to prescribe it.

DS was prescribed Pepti junior when he was older and was an absolute disaster, even when is supposed to be for actose intolerant children, but I guess that dairy intolerant children can also react to other things in milk other than lactose.

I am not aware of any others being totally dairy free. It is costly. The manager at our Dr's would cheerfully bar my little one as her spreadsheets are now looking pants.

What are your issues with Neocate? Has your dietician and your consultant suggested something different? Is your little refusing it?

Sorry - I missed your breastfeeding bit. Have you seen a dietician yet? Has your baby been diagnosed as having an allergy/ intolerance?

My daughter was on Nutramigen from 3 months and a friend's wee girl was also on it from about 6 months. (it took longer for the health visitor to take her symptoms seriously) In my experience, where we are in any case, Nutramigen is the first choice for prescription as it is cheaper. They will only then prescribe Neocate if your baby cannot tolerate Nutramigen. It does smell absolutely foul, but my daughter took it no problem and it certainly helped. Her ezcema improved massively and while she was still constantly sick until 10 months, the pain she had had previously also disappeared which made life so much better for everyone. She grew out of her dairy intolerance by her first birthday and is now on a normal diet. (she's nearly 3)

DS has been on Neocate for over a year. He was put on Nutramigen and was fine for a bit, but then he started vomiting it up. He's on it indefinitely and is dairy and soya allergic. Guess am lucky that no one has mentioned cost to me (yet?)
