Anyone know any recipes for breadmakers which are gluten free? Or shall I concede defeat and sell it?

I have a panasonic automatic breadmaker its instruction booklet has 16 gluten free recipies. (not that I have tried any)However the rest of the recipies are fantastic.

DD is coeliac. IME dont bother. The only GF bread loaf worth eating is called Genius. We buy it in Tesco. Its dear but she is careful to make it last. Other bread style products are ok, pittas/muffins, but gf loaves are awful!jurisfictionoperative

well I use mine for non gf bread for the rest of the family! You can also make jam in them! Trust me, for a loaf, Genius is the ONLY one worth eating! We have tried them all. Bread is the only thing coeliacs lose out on, most other things can be adapted quite well.

I have a panasonic breadmaker and have made at least 3 gluten free loaves which looked delicious but on slicing found a huge cavern inside the loaf! I was on the brink of getting rid of it.
However, I have since made a Glutafin Gluten Free Wheat Free Bread Mix Loaf where I put in all the flour mix, the whole packet of yeast and the other ingredients listed on the packet for breadmakers. I put it on the basic 4 hour setting, large loaf, dark crust . Once the breadmaker started mixing I used a spatula round the edge to incorporate any spare flour.
After all of that the loaf which was produced had a nice crust and very soft and light in the middle. It was only like that for the day I made it but it was very nice. It turned slightly rubbery the day after so it got toasted!
I'm still not sure whether to keep it!

I have a Kenwood breadmaker and regularly make GF bread. I slightly modified the recipe that is on programme 9 as follows:

450 ml of water
2 eggs
1.5 tsps of dried yeast (for breadmakers)
1 tsp of cider vinegar
1 tsp of salt
25g of sugar (its about 5 tsps)
45 ml sunflower oil (its about 3 tbsps)
500 grams of Doves farm GF flour
2 tsp of Xanthan gum

I sometimes mix in nuts, seeds, raisins to make it more interesting.

Did you guys find that your loaves were like normal gf bread, as in powdery rather than chewy when you chew it? That's what dd hates, genius is the only loaf we find eats like bread.

My GF loaves (see recipe above) taste nicer than Genius bread and not as dry.

I keep them in a plastic bag in the fridge. They DO get dryer after a few days - but that is only like proper normal bread used to be.

The idea of a normal wheat loaf staying soft and moist for a week is pretty modern phenomenon that is only possible with some extreme and not very pleasant flour technlogy.

I tend to bake a GF loaf 3 times a week.

Would just like to add to the above, that GF bread lasts longer if you bake/buy it, slice it and freeze it immediately. A single slice thaws very quickly in the morning, and you can toast from frozen, anyway. I think Genius is the best for sandwiches, too . Have to say, I will always miss croissants.....

If GF due to Coeliac you can get flour mix on prescription which makes a half decent loaf in breadmaker. The instructions are on the pack, if not CD I know it can be tricky due to batter consistency of mix.
