I'm terrified! DD2 has dairy and egg allergies and we're seeing her consultant for updated skin pricks on these, together with an updated skin prick for dd1's egg allergy. And also a peanut test for dd2!

I'm worrying myself sick.

Am going on my own wih them both. Anyone able to hold my hand and wish us luck?

good luck, it won't be as bad as you think. chocolate buttons, essential!

Whelk · 28/04/2010 16:24

Thanks. Yes good idea with bribes/choc buttons (dairy free ones!!)

dd1 has always been such a little trooper with her skin prick tests but its highly possible poor old dd2 (and I) may find it hard.

my dd was tested in our local hospital, not a special allergy clinic. they were happy with me giving her chocolate buttons during the test, in the treatment room, but there were notices up in the waiting room about not opening food/eating due to allergies.

My DS had an allergy test. He had blood taken in the local pead dept. They have then added the allergens to his blood and we are awaiting the results. Not sure if this test is any different with the results but may be a different option for testing if you are concerned???

Best of luck

I'm concerned about the results mumbar rather than the actual process but thanks for the suggestion. Just can't quite cope with another allergen (especially one thats rarely outgrown) and feeling so sad for dd2. But if I have to then so I will!

nottirednow- I assumed this would be standard protocol (not eating in the waiting room) but when I last went with dd1, I kid you not, someone was eating peanuts in the waiting room!!

Dd2 is only 12 months so will take toys rather than MP3 etc! But many thanks for the suggestion and tips. I would hate to trigger another dc's allergies.

I understand your concerns - sorry misunderstood what you were saying.

I am still waiting for DS results to tomato, ketchup and peanuts.

Can't beleive someone bought peanuts into a childrens dept!!! That defies ignorance!!!

Whelk · 28/04/2010 21:21

Good luck with your ds's results mumbar. Let us know how you go?

Will do - only time I've ever wished to fail a test!!!

Whelk · 04/05/2010 21:32

Test was negative!

Milk and eggs still positive altho dd1'a weal was smaller than usual (never can quite understand the significance of the weal - will start another thread)

Both dds were little troopers. Thanks for your support and good luck with your tests.
