Asthma with hay fever

Does anyone else get really bad asthma with hay fever? I actually have very mild asthma which wore off as I got older. When I was in my teens it was quite bad but luckily wore off from around age 25 onwards (now I'm ancient and it's very rare that I get it)

Anyway the past few days I've had it really bad and I think it could be an allergy because I had it at this time last year. We live in Germany on the edge of a huge forest where every 2nd tree is in blossom.

Cetrizine Hydrochloride tablets aren't helping. Any ideas what else I could try (apart from taking my inhaler every couple of hours)

I've never had asthma but was prescribed an inhaler one year when my hayfever got really bad so I guess they can be related.

I would talk to your doctor about a different antihisthamine maybe?

My daughter's asthma is triggered by hayfever. She takes desloratadine (Neoclarityn) which is prescription only and very effective.

Thankyou, I'll see if that's available (Neoclarityn) here. Does it ease her breathing?

I'm like an old lady at the moment and it's starting to give me pain in my back from trying to breath hard.

Must try to go to the doctor, can't do it tomorrow as dc have a day off school.

Asthma and hayfever are strongly linked. You need an inhaled steroid, along with either salbutamol or a long acting beta agonist such as salmeterol or formoterol.

In conjunction with an antihistamine you should get a significant relief from your symptoms.

As Sidge says. My daughter had a review of her medication this time last year, and is on Serevent and Flixotide inhalers along with the Neoclarityn (in the season). She is a much healthier and happier bunny in both hayfever and virus seasons than she has been for a few years, but is better in summer than winter because the antihistamine pretty much wipes out the hayfever symptoms, but she still gets colds in the winter.
