Hi! My sinuses have been bad for 3 days now, migraine everyday then ds3 ezcema really bad! The joys of pollen have begun! Hope you get some relief x

I wonder if that's what DP's got then...

He's come home with what seems like a crap cold but he suffers BADLY with hayfever (thought it was a bit early though?)

Goingspare · 19/04/2010 21:32

There are hayfever threads popping up all over, so the season's clearly begun.

Misdee - I wrote about it elsewhere earlier, but my DD's hayfever triggers her asthma, and she is helped greatly by desloratadine (Neoclarityn), which she has on prescription. If that's what your DD & DH bring home from the doctor, it should help (I know different people respond to different remedies).

amidaiwish · 19/04/2010 21:35

have you tried cutting out wheat? works well for dh who is so so so bad.
also dose up on vit C.

notnowbernard · 19/04/2010 21:41

Someone told DP to eat a locally produced honey every day. He is going to try it

misdee · 19/04/2010 22:11

they have doubled her steroid inhaler, given her a different anti histimine, and eye drops. hopefully this will make things more comfortable for her.

AntiH's take about 3-4 days to "ramp up", IME.

DH got hit with a sudden hayfever-like reaction to something out of the blue yesterday. He doesn't get hayfever

I was sympathetic (honest), and provided drugs from my stash, but while he was moaning about how debilitating it was I was all the while thinking "Ha - see - all these years you have been telling me it is just a runny nose and you don't know what I am moaning about"

TheTripleBreastedHooker · 19/04/2010 22:20

honey is a crap myth. didn't wok for me.

pollen is utterly shite at the mo. am considering being nocturnal for a few months.

notnowbernard · 19/04/2010 22:24

Really? I won't tell him and hopefully it will have some sort of placebo effect

DP described himself as feeling like he was "on heroin" earlier. I pointed out that folk under the influence of heroin tend to gouch out somewhat and remain generally non-verbal

He, OTOH, insisted on giving me 5min updates on his deteriorating condition

misdee · 19/04/2010 22:26

oh apparently the falling ash from the volcano can cause the same symtoms as hayfever,. coughm running nose, sore eyes, inxcreased wheeziness.

so hayfever or ash.

i think its hayfever.

notnowbernard - it's not too early for hayfever. There is loads of tree blossom around and I have been waking up with red-raw throat for a few weeks (until I started taking the AntiH's every day and now I am more or less OK)

Goingspare · 20/04/2010 09:29

The honey remedy doesn't stand up to clinical trials, apparently, though it seems to work for some. Wouldn't hurt to try.
