That'll make it 36 hours since she had piriton by the time she has the tests. Is that enough time? What should I do?

I thought they said minimum 48 hours, what is the skin prick test for Trixy? Can you call them before you go? Such a pain as you have to wait for ages for these things. Was the piriton for the allergy you are testing for?

DS is allergic to loads of things so DD is to be tested before we start weaning her for allergy to eggs and dairy. I don't know what she was reacting to, but she was scratching like mad so we gave her some piriton.

I think we'll go anyway as we can at least go to see the dietician as there's no way I'm putting off weaning any longer. That's her 6 months and she has been sitting well unsupported for ages now, has lost the tongue thrust reflex and can pick things up and put them in her mouth. She has also been waking loads after sleeping a good 6 hour stretch so feeling quite desperate to see if solids will help her sleep a bit better.

I'm so gutted as have been waiting for this day for ages, and now I won't be satisfied with a negative result, although I am absolutely certain it'll be positive.

Just read this which only says 1 day for piriton, so hopefully should be OK.

Good luck Trixy - hope it goes well. I may be speaking out of turn but I would be really suprised if 36 hour old piriton makes a massive difference to a proper allergy result. An intolerance perhaps but a full on allergy should be still obvious. I am sure the half life of the drug is less than 18 hours as you can give it 6 hourly can't you?

I think piriton is OK within 24 hours, not citirizine or desloratadine though ...
You could always do bloods instead ... Good luck!

It was fine in that it didn't ruin the test. Not so fine in that she tested positive to egg allergy, but I was fairly certain about that. She tested negative to milk though which was a bit of a relief.

That is good - she may well grow out of egg allergy, my two did although I hasten to add one was only deemed an intolerance, although I would say projectile vomiting was a bit of a give away to being pretty darn intolerant!
