12yo DS eczema getting worse

My DS is 12 and has had eczema since 4 months old. It seemed to get considerably better (though never disappeared) from around 2yrs until a few months ago. Since then it has been steadily getting worse, and is on his legs and also arms (he hasn't had it on his arms since he was a baby). We have been trying a dairy-free diet for the past 4 weeks with no improvement. I'm v disappointed as I really thought dairy would be a trigger for him. Anyone else had a similar situation? What helped? What can we do?

Could it be hormone changes? He's at the right age for surges of hormones to be effecting his eczema.

i think eczema comes and goes as it wants. creams from the doctor have worked well at first then not made much difference after a while. at the moment i am using a supermarket organic nappy balm which i think is wheatgerm oil mostly. its doing wonders. ive tried all sorts of food elimination but that doesnt seem to make any difference. i think just creaming as often as possible to soothe is all you can do until the phase passes. i remember my sister went through it at about the same age as your ds then it passed, she hasnt had it since as far as i know so very possibly hormone related. x

My eczema is defo hormone related (and there's lots of research and literature about it) so perhaps having a look at some might suggest how mineral supps such could help until it rebalances.

Thanks for your posts. I'm not sure about the hormones as he's not showing any other signs yet (remember boys mature later than girls, mostly) but it's worth bearing in mind. Interesting tip about the wheat germ oil, I could try that. Thanks.
