Dustmite allergy advice please...

Well, just as I appeared to have got my head around ds's food allergies we've had his latest RAST test back indicating dog, cat and dust allergies. No surprise really I suppose as his main problem is constant itching even though his eczema isn't as bad as it used to be.

Dog and cat avoidance is obvious but dustmite seems to be a tricky one. We've got a new fantastic Miele hoover, I've had the carpet cleaned at 60 degrees and obviously damp dusting as often as poss is advisable. I've got rid of excess teddies and sorted out toy storage rather than having stuff all over the floor as usual.

However what should I do about bedding? He can't be left to sleep by himself because of the scratching so I've got to dust proof his single bed and also our kingsize one so it looks like it's going to be expensive. The mattresses are about 5 years old so should I replace them before getting mattress protectors? Is it better to just get cheap Ikea duvets and chuck them out every now and then or get proper anti allergy ones? I've got some new pillows that are machine washable at 60 degrees so they should be ok.

His RAST level was in the 40's which the consultant described as a "moderate" level but presumably I still need to cut out as much exposure as possible as he's showing classic signs of reacting by itching.

Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for any advice!

i woul get the dust mite pillows and bedding you'd be cheaper doing that in the long run rather than buying cheap 1's and constantly throwing them out. also put any soft toys in the freezer, it kills off any dust mites

Hi, Carpet cleaning - the moisure causes mould and fungi to grow which is a health hazard. Google it or see mold-help.org website. Also Get Well Soon-Remove The Cause The Effect Will Astound You by United Authors
I found blankets better than duvets and it's good you have new pillows THAT CAN BE WASHED AT 60. Does your vacuum have a HEPA FILTER?
