have stopped using cows milk to see if it helps my many annoying symptoms and have been using rice milk instead.
thing is i think i now have a yeast problem and have read that anything fermented is out.
so is oat milk fermented? could i use that or would it be just the same as the rice milk?

I think that all grain milk is fermented, so rice/oat/spelt/rye/wheat etc milks could be a problem if you are avoiding them. Soy milk is not fermented and is also available as cheese and cream. They are not gourmet foods, but when you haven't had cheese and cream for ages, they are OK.
Can you have goats milk? I tried this but found that it "tastes of the smell of goats" IYKWIM?
If you are avoiding fermented foods, then bread, beer and wine are out as well.
I avoid bread (for other reasons) so I eat Ryvita instead. It is crap for bacon sandwiches, but topped with something nice it is not too bad.

I would second trying goats milk.

it's fairly easy to get hold of, and not that expensive. it does, sadly taste quite farmyard-y, but some are better than others. The one you can get in Sainsbury's (St Helen's Farm, i think) is apparently better than the M&S one (which is rank).

it has a different protein in it than in cow's milk - A2 rather than A1.

If you think you might get on with A2 milk, then bufallo milk is lovely (I kid you not)

we all drink bufallo milk as a family now (used otbe dds on rice milk, then goat; dh on goat/soya as his mood took him).

I couldn't stand soya, rice, goat etc.

Hazelnut milkk is nice, especially on muesli etc, and dh said it was nice in coffee (I don't drink coffee/tea). almond was ok, but not great.

oat milk is nice tasting, but doesn't work well in coffee/tea according to dh.

I'd give bufallo milk a try (can get it form Waitrose, or Ocado)

I am really fussy about my milk (I am the only one in the family ok to drink "normal" milk) and I think it tastes nicer than cow's milk, and I only buy that now, rather than having a fridge full of different milks!

I haven't had anyone outside the family notice either, if they have it in tea/coffee, and had a friend who hates goats milk try it and pronounce it delicious!

thanks i shall certainly give it a try!
