Can't use cow's milk, have tried lactose free, soya milk and all give me terrible wind and bloating. You wouldn't believe the noises my stomach makes it is very embarrassing! Have tried oats milk still results in wind and a little bloating but not so severe. The trouble is I want to lose weight and the weather is turning - I love porridge it's filling, good for cholesterol, yadda yadda yadda. Do you have any suggestions on alternatives or is there something I can drink after having the porridge or take to reduce the symptoms (oh by the way have tried mint tea..it doesn't work) please help me???

my kids have it with water.
we usually add a small bit of manuka honey or sugar-free jam/puree after its cooked.
DS once fancied it with peanut butter but said it was disgusting

Chocolate and honey no good. I'm also trying to be good and lose a few pounds. Banana or pureed fruit could work have you tried those yourself?

I have done both for the kids I'm on a fab diet at the mo tho, I'm using the weight loss resources website - never really done very well with dieting before but i'm surprising myself - my baby is 7 weeks and i'm back in my pre pregnancy jeans!!!! - normally takes about 10 months for me.

What does your diet involve?

kitkatcadaverqueen · 18/10/2009 23:51

Hi Nappyaddict, Stuff I Like!!

If you use this website then all you do is enter your height and current weight, it then tells you your BMI based on those and shows you what range you should weigh in for a healthy bmi.

You tell it what you want to weigh and it tells you what your calorie allowance is per day, how much fat, protein, and carbohydrate you should be eating and to make it really easy if you click on food you can make up a meal plan from the database. Basically it knows the percentages of fat, carb and protein for loads of different foods so each item you add to the list reduces the no. of calories left for the day and you have a pie chart to show your percentages for carb protein and fat.

Sounds really complicated but its not.

Its more a tool to a healthy lifestyle rather than a diet fad iykwim?

That said 2 weeks ago I was 12 stone one 1 today I weighed in at 11 stone 5.

On the website you get 1 day for free to try it out, then I think its about £10 for a month. I figured that after a month I would have a good idea of what I should be eating and its much cheaper than WW.
