This is true, but there is a product which has a patented stabilisation process to naturally preserve the aloe gel's essential properties. It is available in a tube as a gelly, which is great as an all-purpose first aid product.
There is also another product though, which is an aloe propolis creme (propolis is a natural anti-biotic, anti fungal substance which comes from beehives). Many people with eczema, psoriasis and other dry skin conditions have found that it has helped them and it is mild enough to use as a nappy rash creme too.
My daughter (6) has eczema on her face. When the doctor prescribed a steriod creme, I just had to try something else.
We have had great results from giving her aloe vera drinking gel in a flavoured ice cube form (the plain gel is very 'plant flavoured'. There is also a peach juice version, which we haven't tried yet. Her little brother insists on having some aloe ice cubes too!
