finally got dd4 results back from allergy clinic.

but the letter doesnt explain much.

am guess low grade=good as far as allergies go?

but the peanut one is scaring me.

we need to keep dd4 on an egg, milk and peanut free diet. so am guessing everything that says 'may contain nuts' is out?

do peanut traces go through to breastmilk the same way cows milk does?

should i make my house nut free?

am a bit scared and upset tbh. was hoping that just milk would show up, but suspected egg would figure in there somewhere, but peanuts?

is it my fault as i followed the new guidelines of NOT avoiding nuts in pregnancy with dd4.

hello misdee i wouldnt worry too much i had the same results and i cut these foods out of my diet (for a few years) and slowly reintroduced them and i can eat all of them now no problems .allergys are strange thinks they are not always for life .they can develop suddenley and can also be overcome

i had a very bad monosodium glutamate allergy didnt eat any for 5 years re introduced it slowly and now im ok with it(even tho its not a great thing to eat )

good luck x

thank yu all. i'm going to sleep on things, see the HV tomorrow (as although she is meant to get copies of the letters, they never do and i end up with two copies), and have a chat, and weigh up the pro's and cons of nutramigen.

all those figures are really low, misdee and antihistamine doesn't affect blood tests. I suspect if she wasn't reacting to milk with a low figure they wouldn't have said much about the others.

It's possible to have a low figure and not have any reaction when they eat the food. My child has had much higher figures for food they eat with no problem. And very young children may "grow out of" allergy. So while it makes sense to avoid nuts until they are older and can have a food challenge you may not have to deal with this forever.

I don't know if nuts come through in breast milk but the Anaphylaxis Campaign helpline are better informed than allergy uk about nuts.

How about beakers of milk for the other children - the type with straws to drink from might help with the contamination risks.

thanks tatt

we have theseno spill cups, but will still say milk only at the table.

i was surprised about the milk result being that low. i was expecting it to be higher considering how bad and quick her skin reacts on contact.

am crossing everything that she outgrows these allergies and doesnt repalce them with new ones.
