help with breakfast for ds - with milk/soya intolerance

Hi. Am new here and going a little crazy trying to find breakfast ideas for DS, who is 9mths.

He had a reaction to milk and soya in my diet from b/f and we've had appointments at the hosp with this. Problem went away within days of me giving it up.

I've got Cow & Gate Pepti but when I tried it his skin flared up so will give another go before going back to the dietician.

But it's so hard to find things for breakfast for him as everything has soya or milk derivatives. I've tried him on bagels, which he likes but his skin flares up so I'm careful with wheat. Same with rice and quinoa in Plum baby foods. Avoiding egg until he's a year because he reacts to even the slightest amount of milk/soya in my diet.

Have recently tried Orgran buckwheat pancakes using water and baby fruit puree in place of milk and eggs, and he likes them but we can't have that every morning. And not sure if their apple and cinnamon version is okay for him? Has anyone tried them?

Have also bought a breadmaker so we'll soon be able to have that.

Any other ideas, as feel desperate to get him to eat properly.

Thanks in advance for help and sorry for rambling on in incoherent manner.

Ready Break has traces of milk and soya, but found out that if you just blend up normal porridge oats and cook in boiling water comes out the same. DS doesn't like it, though.

He has hideous rash on side of his face and neck and arm today, which may be the pepti or the one pasta twist i gave him yesterday.

My gluten-free bread didn't quite turn out right. Have to try again tomorrow.

He's not very good on rice, so AK gluten-free pasta may not be best for me. Think Boots have some gluten-free pasta shapes as well, though. Their chicken stock is fab.

I give him the organix sweetcorn crisps and the thick carrot crisps which he loves as finger foods.

Am going to try neocate, hopefully as the answer to my problems, esp if i can cook with it.

Where could I find a recipe for homemade baked beans?

That was one of the ones I tried Qumps! Also Kingston and Twickenham. Got someone going to stake out Waitrose Sheen at the weekend. Don't beat me to it this time!!

Holle porridge from Waitrose has no wheat or milk/soya in - my LO has it most mornings with some fruit compote or other that I mix up. The free from aisle in supermarket has a bread which is wheat/egg/diary/soya free (most wheat free like Genius from Tesco) contain egg which for me is a nightmare as Lo is intolerat to diary, soya, oats, wheat, eggs, nuts and sesame!

I used to give DD hipp organic banana porridge mixed with neocate for breakfast.

Comes in a box not jar.

This was until I discovered a problem with oats but it has no soya, wheat or dairy in it but rather high on the sugar side

I used to really stress about DS1's diet (dairy free and egg free back then as well) when he was a baby/toddler, but a dietitian told me not to worry if it seemed a bit repetitive. As she said, I have the same thing for breakfast every morning so there's no reason a baby needs something different every day.

Haven't had the soya issue but we also kept DS2 off dairy till he was 18 months old, and I just used to give some bread or toast (homemade or check what you can buy - I live in Luxembourg so don't know the brands), with jam directly on it if you can't get soya free margarine, plus some pureed fruit, either home made or in a jar if that's ok. I did mix baby rice and water into the fruit but sounds like that might be a problem for you? DS2 is now nearly 2 and is fine with dairy, but he still has that same breakfast every day (only with a glass of milk and fresh fruit rather than pureed!). Both my kids have also really loved rice wafers as snacks.

PS DS1 is still on Neocate at nearly 6, but I've found it hard to cook with - it's fine in small amounts but I've been in tears trying to make pancakes or custard as it doesn't set properly. Oat milk or cream is another option (from health food shops).

ps sorry meant oat milk as option for cooking, not for his main drink.

Thanks Weta. I got the neocate today so will try. Have been having fun making all sorts of gluten free 'bread' with not much success.

Tried millet with lots of fruit puree this morn and he ate it. Also gave him mashed bananas and avocado the other morn and he liked that. When I tried it with rice he had a pretty explosive nappy, so am leaving off rice for a few more weeks.

Strange thing is he has no reaction from eating small bits of bagel. Bizarre.

Anyways, thanks for the info/suggestions. And thanks to everyone else, as well.
