Same here, I ordered my medication last month so I could start building up my immunity ready for the full onslaught to be told they don't start giving them out until the end of March!!! Oh well I'll just tell myself I haven't got any symptoms yet! My throat is itching already and I'm starting with my nose too. Does medication help you with yours?

DisasterArea · 27/03/2009 17:23

asn't kicked in yet. every bloody year the bloody pollen gets there before the drugs do.

My sons has started, we live over the road from a big park with lots of trees and he came back from playing a bit of footie last sunday morning with red, itchy eyes..got the piriton down him quickly..and the swelling didn't happen.

Hasn't happened since but will have to watch out.

BottySpottom · 27/03/2009 17:47

I had terrible hayfever, but it suddenly stopped when I started having chidldren. Instead I get incredibly itchy hands, but I'd rather have that. There is hope!

peanuthead · 30/03/2009 14:23

what meds do you take? I've never found anything that works. think we're in for a bad summer of it, sure it does't normally start this early. I hate it hate it hate it - been going to bed at 9 30 every night as feel so bleary. and for the first time this year I have a new symptom - a hacking cough - to add to the sinusitus, sore eyes, cotton wool head and general feeling bleugh.

While we're on the subject of hayfever.....! Does anyone have any tips of dealing with it when you CAN'T take the usual medication? I'm usually tied to my antihistaines, but at 10 weeks pregnant the itchy eyes and ears have started and I'm living in dread of the summer! Any thoughts would be greatfully received!

Holbobs - dh has been prescribed both eye drops and a nasal spray in addition to his pills and inhalers. Do you think you might be able to take those?

bodiddly · 16/04/2009 19:15

holbobs my dr gave me an antihistamine spray when I was pregnant so it is worth asking them!

My hayfever started a couple of weeks ago and my eyes are constantly streaming - I can put up with sneezing etc but my eyes are driving me potty. Grrrr.

DisasterEggs · 16/04/2009 19:16

thought i recognised that thread title fecking pollen is bad again today.
i use a combination of loratadine, a beclometasone nose spray and haymax, an aromatherapy balm spread around the nostrils.

Holbobs. i have no idea what you can take, i feel for you. what about those light things you stick up your nose?

DisasterEggs · 21/04/2009 22:18

A new developmant today. I appear to have a sore throat and am sneezing but not coldy as don't feel coldy if that makes sense.
have scratched my eyes so much today i'll be looking mighty fine tomorrow.

misspollysdolly · 21/04/2009 22:53

It's my chest that feels awful here...fecking trees! Actual snotty, streamy hayfever symptoms are pretty minimal but my asthma is shocking! Much sympathies everyone!

M44 · 22/04/2009 19:06

Piriton is totally safe in pregnancy. Taken it with all of mine when I have been pregnant or breast feeding.
Now i am not either of the above-loratidine seems to work well although only lasts 12 hours not 24! Really feel it wearing off so I take it about 11 am so it stops when I am asleep as I find I get alot of symptoms in the evening.
Sympathies to everyone!

Chocolateteapot · 23/04/2009 08:14

You all need this machine, transformed my summers and also DD's. Google for it for forum reviews and also medinose which is the same principle. Sounds barking but has made a huge difference, though I guess it won't work for everyone.

DisasterEggs · 23/04/2009 18:34

does that work for mostly eye symptoms?

MrsGokWan · 23/04/2009 18:58

M44 my doctor would not prescribe me anything with my pregnancies. I was told there was nothing safe to take while pregnant and breastfeeding.

I am still breastfeeding and was wondering what was going to do as I am starting to get the symptoms at the moment.

When I am not pregnant I usually have an injection and also laratadine to keep it under control.

Thanks for the link Chocolateteapot, looks interesting.

kingprawntikka · 23/04/2009 19:49

I find a bit of vaseline or Happynose wiped inside of the nostrils stops most of my symptoms .I put it on before I leave the house and the theory is it stops the pollen attaching to your membranes. You can buy some thing in Boots that is specifically designed for this purpose. I believe it is called Haymax. I used to suffer badly but find this really works.
