Picked up DS2 from playschool. Staff asked if he has had chicken pox (yes) so are wondering if he is allergic to strawberries. He has had a red, hot cheek with spots when having them before and also when he had something at PS with red colouring in.

Just looking for advice really as other DCs don't have allergies.

I have just remembered that his older brother used to react in the same way but is okay now.

Strawberry allergy is very common in little ones. If you suspect it just drop them for a year then try again. Almost all children grow out of it within a few years.

Apparently strawberries contain a high level of histamine so any child with other allergies is likely to react

If you're sure there's not going to be a big scary reaction, you could always do a careful touch-test - once to the hand, if that's OK, carefully to the face, and if that's OK to the lip and so on
