Hi has anyone had their eczema triggered by these? (in most moisturisers and hand washes for sensitive skin) am beginning to think that is my DD problem...

No I cant say I have noticed this with dd. I admit it used to take a long time to find creams to suit her for her eczema without stinging ect but nothing that ever pin pointed to patrolleum. She has never had a problem with eg vaseline on her chapped lips. Does it come under liquid parafin too or is that different. Thats what seems to be in her eczema cream and soap sub?

vaseline irritates - and now that I have gone on to a petrolleum free regime (took some finding) it is much improved.

My own eczema/itchy/prickly heat trigger seems to be petroleum-based products so when DS1 was a baby and started to get really bad eczema I finally twigged and stopped using them on him and it cleared up!

It was a real bummer before I figured it out because so many of the so-called remedies are petroleum-based and just made things worse.

He has really dry skin so I use vegetable oil based moisturisers on him but for heavy duty work (eg chapped lips) I use Lansinoh instead of vaseline.

thanks! Will get some of that for swimming as a barrier cream.

Oooo, yes, yes. My DD is allergic to most creams (I've just posted on another thread as well), and eventually we worked out it was the petroleum bases (used as preservative I think, or as well as preservatives). There is a range of creams/washes by Allergenics which we've just found she is OK with (the only cream she's not allergic to, apart from Dermasalve which is sadly no longer available), so I'm fairly evangelical about them at the moment, but give them a go!

have just ordered some - we are having an outbreak on her face....
