Can anyone recommend a probiotic?

DD has severe allergies to milk, egg, wheat and sesame and for a while I have wondered whether a probiotic might help. Plus since having antibiotics at Xmas she seems to have reasonably frequent nausea and is just not quite right in terms of digestion. Does anyone use a probiotic that seems effective and is safe for milk etc allergic children? I have tried googling but haven't come up with any clear info.

Thanks!

Take acidophillus capsules you can get them from a health food shop. I took them after several courses of AB's gave me very resistent nipple thrush.

Biocare does a good one - its for kids and is pleasant tasting and dissolves in water. You can get it from bodykind.com and its cheaper than directly from biocare and its free postage. Its called Strawberry Acidophilus F.O.S powder.

I meant to say my DD doesn't have diary or refined wheat as it makes her eczema flair up and this one works well for her.

I don't need to be dairy free but there are lots e.g. www.goodnessdirect.co.uk/cgi-local/frameset/sect/SAHAC-Probiotics.htm

The other thing you might want to try is digestive enzymes. Biocare Glutenzyme Plus is a capsule but I find it easier to swallow (and more effective) than lepicol powder.

biocare bifidabacterium infantis. I have been giving my ds this since 6 months old.

also flax seed oil is very good for healing the gut lining in allergic childrfen

Thanks very much for all the replies - it is great to have some actual brand names, rather than random googling! I think I will definitely give probiotics, and also the flaxseed, a go.

A couple of other good ones for you -

Higher Nature Probioeasy
Solgar ABCDophilus
Nutri Ultra Probioplex

I give weeklly unless he has a virus or tummy bug in which case I give daily, and if she's had antibiotics I would give her a course for at least a month if not longer.

I've used all three, found them all good. I also use Nutri Eskimo Fish oil for my DS eczema, it's really high in EPA and DHA and absolutely brill.
