I saw this too - I had no idea bluebumedfly's DD was one of only four children in the study! Very positive news.

BlueBumedFly · 20/02/2009 12:52

Hello guys!

Yes this is our study, we are thrilled, super thrilled that the first year results are now published and they are so positive. DD is chuffed too, what brilliant exposure, I am going to email Dr C to say well done!

Meanwhile we are still on the nuts. There are now the original 12 children still on study meds and a new set of 18 kids as far as I know.

Wonderful, cannot tell you how much it has changed our lives.

Dr says you can desinsitize to anything, once DD is ready we are going to try to desen her from cat fur.

Thanks for posting Strawberry - going to read your other thread now. x

This is brilliant news, keeping my fingers crossed for desensitisation to milk - not that I ever want DS to drink that poison lol, but it would be nice not to be so anxious...

Well done to everyone involved!!

BlueBumedFly · 20/02/2009 14:00

Dr C at Addenbrookes says you can be desensitized to anything, perhaps you should drop him a line?

Mumfie68 · 20/02/2009 14:24

It would be fab if they did try milk, but I'm pretty sure they'll do more trials on nuts first. Then again I'm not far from Cambridge... it's tempting, I'll bet he's being bombarded with hopeful parents!!

DS is seeing the local allergy specialist next month, I might mention it to him; I know he runs a clinic at Addenbrookes too so he might be able to help.

BlueBumedFly · 20/02/2009 14:26

I think he may even be doing milk, I know when we first saw him he said he thought you could desensitized from anything, I know he had all sorts of work going on at the time.

Mumfie68 · 20/02/2009 15:16

Thanks for that, I will get in touch then!

AitchTwoOh · 20/02/2009 15:21

congrats, bbf.

foxinsocks · 20/02/2009 15:23

yes they asked us to see if dd would participate as they were looking for children who had a defined allergy (in their blood) who had then gone on to outgrow their allergy.

I think they are looking at how some people outgrow any allergy too.

foxinsocks · 20/02/2009 15:23

it is fascinating isn't it. And he seems like such a nice man.

BBF, how wonderful! Hope it carries on to be successful.

BlueBumedFly · 20/02/2009 20:30

Thanks Aitch!

Thanks foxinsocks, do you know Dr C really IS a lovely man, very caring about the kids, has the patience of a saint is totally focused on helping these children. Long may it last.
