I haven't tried it, but I had some email correspondence with Dr H Morrow Brown who pioneered the method of desensitisation to pollen rather than treatment through drugs. I'd be really interested to try it, but have a feeling that it's not going to be that easy to do. I was told by my GP that it was no longer available last year, which isn't correct. I believe that the problem is that it is expensive.
I can copy and paste you the emails I had from him if you're interedted.

Beginning to feel a bit worried about this. Last summer was ruined because I had the most horrendous hayfever from June onwards. I am absolutely desperate to avoid this, but don't suppose I'll have much help from GP as will be bf when it kicks in.

The consultant @ the Royal Brompton told me it cost £12k per annum . My GP told me £70 per month - ie more like £840 per annum - and this corrspondes to what i have read on the internet.

Do you think you're likely to be prescribed it?
Do you suffer badly?

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 17/02/2009 08:51

Not me - DS. He suffers very badly, misses loads of school, gets asthma, so we are desperate to try anything...

I'll copy and paste a few things that Dr Morrow Brown sent me, you probably know it all already, but it may be useful:

If you look at the website again you will see my suggestions for effective treatment -start the steroid nasal spray before the season, get your gp to prescribe effective antihistamines- and for special occasions steroid tablets for a few days will abolish it altogether .
Obviously you are not having effective treatment --- and if grass pollen is the cause of your problem desensitisation usng the self administered route under the tongue has been available on the NHS for the last 18months. I pioneered this method of treatment years ago, as described on the webiste
Drugs suppress symptoms but never cure

This is the website.

Your poor DS, Last year was the first time I've suffered severely, and it was absolutely horrendous.
